Dinosaur Gum
First day ever on a mini ramp today after not skating for years and I'm super happy with how it turned out.

First 15 minutes felt very strange and was really unstable on the ramp but after starting out in the middle of the ramp (a little 3ft one) after a while I got the hang of pumping pretty easily and managed to get my front trucks up to just under the coping and ride out fakie and do the same.

By the end of the 2 hours i had managed to pretty reliably do backside kick turns both on the flat and up the ramp itself, very surprised at myself for managing to get the hang of it relatively quickly and I had a ton of fun!

Once I've got a bit more comfortable I think the next thing will be to just learn to drop in and get it over with.

Sounds like an awesome session. Let us know how your next session goes, sounds like you have a really awesome mellow mini ramp to skate on. I skated a 3ft mini ramp everyday for years when I was younger, they are rad.

The angle he locks his bs Crooked grinds is so legit. When I try to hit that angle I don't slide or on a round rail I bonk my front truck off and end up on the other side of the rail. Nyja is like the perfect clip skater, I never want to watch a full length part but seeing a 10 second clip is usually rad

there are some rape allegations, read the slap forums at your own risk: https://www.slapmagazine.com/index.php?topic=111846.0
He also said girls shouldn't skate and later apologized.

I enjoyed his 'till death part a few years ago but watching this new one last night had me yelling that he has little kid contest style.
He's sick but I don't really enjoy watching him skate. He's probably the best rail chomper to ever exist but there's a gap between "that is a hard skate move" vs. "wow that looks cool, fun, interesting" that he doesn't bridge.

His outfits do not help him.

oh and the "jock" factor

also he speed checked using his foot one time in a vid lol

The subway bondo is cool imo. That feels like street skating. I didn't notice it in the video and wondered about the bumps but assumed he popped at the right time.

https://www.thrashermagazine.com/articles/big-sets-small-boards-the-petar-stanchev-interview/

I read this interview with Petar. What do you think he means when he says he makes his own boards? I've been interested in doing something like this lately. I struggle to find boards in the dimensions I like to skate. Do you think he means he cuts his own wood, laminates, and presses them? Or do you think it's more like he orders them and has his graphics put on them?

Hey I want to buy a skateboard as an xmas gift for our 7 year old. He has size 32 shoes (EU), weighs about 27kg, and is 127cm tall. He loves to bike and rollerblade and every time we go into a decathlon he wants to look at the decks. I like decathlon but this site says their skateboards should be avoided: https://www.skateboardershq.com/worst-skateboard-brands/

I did my own research :smuggo: and I think we need basically the smallest deck we can find. And since we'll be cruising around the city parks and sidewalks we should avoid harder wheels.

Powell Peralta has this 7.0" thing with 80A wheels: https://www.blue-tomato.com/en-ES/product/Powell+Peralta-Ripper+Mini+7+0+Complete-592327. I have not been able to find anything smaller outside of random amazon brands.

Or am I completely misguided and this is too small? There are obviously a heck of a lot more options if a 7.5 or 7.75 is still appropriate for his size but people seem to be recommending that for teenagers which he is not.

Thank you for any guidance.

That seems like the right size. Might actually feel a bit too big at first but he'll grow into it. Getting Bones setup will have decent bearings and be much safer than a cheapo board.

Ripper looks fine. At seven he can probably skate a 7.25 at 29 inches. Or even a 7.5 when I was 8 I had a 7.5.

Thank you guys. I think I will get the ripper. Those tactics boards look nice but I can't immediately see a place to buy them in europe.

There is also this other PP one which I think is a cooler look but the wheels are smaller & harder so I think it would be less forgiving:

honestly bike riding looks more stylish on bikes like that. I really hate the a e s t h e t i c of bmx bikes and the handles sticking out way far away from their hands, plus the hunched over look.

It's cool that they brought everyone together to revisit the gap. Richard King is an original. That floppy leg after he slams gave me sweaty palms though... :barf:

Chad Caruso, a skate vlogger from Long Island, went on a 50 day road trip to land one new trick per day per U.S. state. The schedule alone is difficult to pull off but the tricks themselves are pretty impressive too, kind of Cody McEntire style.

Looks like Dwindle Distribution is the latest to fall prey to vulture capitalists. Not sure what's gonna happen to Almost, Blind, and Darkstar.
