Got out on the board at a local skatepark with my brother for the first time in almost 25 years yesterday, he's three years younger and we grew up skating and biking every day and had a bunch of ramps and rails we built and would put out in the cul de sac. It was surreal, I've been skating (again) a handful of times and he just picked up a board like 2 days prior. So much fun. I stayed mostly clean and had a few hop-off-the-board moments and he took a good one on his rear end doing a 180 out of a non vert bowl. Back when I was 15 or so I told myself I would land another heelflip before I turned 40, like in the time leading up to that birthday. I landed one yesterday but it wasn't clean and I had to step off so I'm not really satisfied. Happily I can still ollie and do shuvits/popshuvits and 180s and still have a good feel for the board snaking around bowls and stuff. I've got just over a week and I think it's a lot more doable than I was worried it would be. Feeling optimistic! I will try to get it on video to post here.

I also just started skating again after 20+ years, mostly just practice in an empty parking lot with nobody around so far lol. I can still ollie and 180, but I'm working on breaking my mongo pushing habits. I've been wanting to go to one of our skate parks, but haven't worked up the courage yet. I keep feeling like I need to get to a certain baseline of comfort before I give it a shot, but honestly I should just go. I need to find some skate buddies

Rolled my goddamn ankle doing fs 180s over a speed bump, It's funny being so old where you do that and then immediately get in your car and go home to ice it and take Advil. Absolutely no trying to power through or act like you're not hurt. gently caress that get it on ice.

Anybody got any good recommendations for filling gaps in curbs with mortar? Do I just mix it and grout it or is there some hidden secret i need to know about?

Use bondo, you mix x amount of the product with x amount of the curing agent and just spread it where you need it. The packaging shows you the ratio you should have between the two.

Two hours or so in, been really close but had to step off a few times now. Gonna keep trying. e: was there for four hours trying until I couldn't try anymore. I had a few more where I landed on the board but my feet were also touching the ground. Couldn't do it  strangely it's my shoulders that are really feeling it. Can't win them all I guess.
