Get more comfortable doing ollies over nothing, increase speed until you are happy, then go for obstacles.

I went to a skatepark for the first time in 10 years today, and was surprised by how fun it was it's a nice concrete park which seem to be more common in the UK than when i was a kid (i remember being 15 and seeing pictures of parks in the states which were all perfectly smooth with bowls everywhere and being insanely jealous). I sucked when i was young and unsurprisingly im still horrible, i managed to drop-in on everything in the park and decided axle stalls were probably the best thing to try and learn first, spent nearly 2 hours there and came so close a number of times. I can launch out over the coping, i just can't quite get the front trucks down, i seem to keep landing in a (smith?) position.

Still it's nice to be an adult and be able to hit the park at 12pm and have it to myself. I think i will go again tomorrow and keep trying.

I've been interested in getting back into skateboarding for a while. I've had very minimal experience. Years ago I bought a cruddy board from Walmart and some friends taught me about stance and how to move forward. Lately I've been practising and I think its time to upgrade my board. I want to get a longboard though because my main use will be cruising. There are a lot of pathways in my neighbourhood that look like they would be fun to go on. I've been looking at the Dingy and its big brother the Tugboat from Landyachtz. I'm a tall guy so I think I would benefit from a larger board(right?). Any suggestions for what I should get? Also, is it alright to buy a pre-built board for now?

Go to your local surf/skate shop and speak to the guys in there about what you need.

Dusted my old (also mall bought ) skateboard just to cruise around since I am terrible doing tricks (never learnt how to ollie :( ) , is there a big difference between a proper cruiser board or I can throw some soft big wheels in my normal deck and be done with it?

Should be fine.

Not being a dick but if you can ollie, kick flip and grind your current board you must have an idea about what you want/need next and how much it will cost.

Thrasher just put out a tour vid with CK, Ishod, Koston, Grant Taylor and Justin Brock. It's nuts:

GT is so unbelievably natural on a skateboard he can kinda make other people, even other SOTYs, look a bit stiff.

Saw this last night, Grant Taylor is a beast nobody looks so powerfull on tranny.

Like most sports, the best exercise for skating is skating.

Does anyone here know what the "format" or gimmick is supposed to be for the "Bru-Ray" series on Thrasher? All I can tell is that it's unserious and involves a lot of parks. There's a "christmas cookie" series of them up now that has Ishod and Grant Taylor and some other big names loving around at parks, pools, backyard ramps and bowls. Cool stuff.

Description - "The Maka's drove on down to Tampa with a big crew of rippers. Koston, Ishod, GT, CK1, Brock and a whole slew of others. -P-Stone"

I think it might just be c-footage? Dunno.

I'm not sure either but have been enjoying the series, i'll watch anything featuring GT, which reminds me, Anti Hero have been uploading their back catalogue of videos to youtube the last few weeks:

I reccomend people watch Tent City if you haven't already seen it.

Yeah i have a friend who races downhill at national level and it suprised me when he told me bearing are not as important as you might think for those guys. It's all about wheel choice for the racers.
