 Are most audiobooks abridged?

I have a mental block wherein I'd love to listen to books, but I can't stand wondering if there's content I'm missing by doing so, I'm not interested in someone deciding what's relevant and what can be cut out.

 I'm glad to see learning ally getting some love in this thread - I used to be a volunteer voiceover talent for them, I've done portions of well over a hundred of their audiobooks.

They're a great service.
