Every day I feed squirrels and birds in our yard. Such was the case Friday when this happened https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unnP5KefgYI Me saying GO was to the squirrels who were still waiting for more hazelnuts. I got them all away and went inside for treats for Grey Cat. I grabbed a bag of freeze dried minnows and at first he didn't know what to do with them, but once he figured it out he was all about them. Saturday morning my wife was walking our dog and Grey Cat came up to them from under a car and touched noses with the dog. This is not normal behavior for a dog that does not like any cat that isn't the one in the house with him. He followed them back home and was interested in coming inside. We gave him a can of food outside and then I sat with him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fyXpu_EXgQ Seems odd for an outdoor stray to just give up the belly like that, right? So we made a decision to get him to a good home. He let me pick him up and we were able to get him into a carrier to a vet for a microchip check. Negative. He was not happy about the carrier though, not at all. Got him back home and took him inside where we had blocked off the entrance to our basement. He seemed comfortable immediately https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9AtEy3uSV4 I sat down on the couch and he ran up and got on my lap and started giving me headbutts and noses. We had decided to name him George because I always wanted a George but never had the opportunity to name anyone that. At one point in the afternoon on Saturday my wife saw me rubbing his belly again and said the he reminded her of Shyne, a cat that we rescued a few years ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euTRwGMIN5k Shyne was all about the belly rubs. My current cat is 12 and does not allow bellys, nor did my 17 year old cat that I had since she fit into my palm. My wife suggested some kind of rif on the name Shyne instead of George. Shyne was named after my grandmother, and my grandfater was Frank. So meet Frank https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dku2giZjERE I think he hates it here If introductions go well, we will keep him here. If he can't get along with the dog and cat we currently have, we will find him a good home. This morning we took the dog down for very supervised introduction and it went very well. No signs of aggression from either one, but they were both passively interested in the other one. In fact, while we were all down there Frank went and pooped in the litterbox for the first time since we got him inside. Seems like a good sign. Lemew, our current cat, did not appreciate anything about Shyne and was aggressive towards her scent and presence from the beginning. It was such a stressful introduction that my wife swore we would never do that again. It was her first time. Amateur. Lemew has been acting much differently this time. The vet said he might be between 8 months to a year. All adult teeth in very good shape. Lemew had a litter of kittens that she was taking care of with a badly mangled leg that needed to be amputated. The rescue I got her from said she was the best mom while the kittens were around and when they took them away she would collapse in exhaustion. She has also always been interested in kitten noises on the TV. Frank went to the vet yesterday and tested negative to FIV, which was another stumbling block if he was to stay here because Lemew is negative. I took the towel he had been sitting on in his crate and put it on a pet bed that no one has used in forever. Shortly after dinner we realized Lemew wasn't in her favorite bed in the living room with us. Went looking for her and she was laying down on his towel. We took the dog down this morning for a very supervised visit and it went extremely well. No signs of aggression from either one, a little curiousity and a lot of "ignoring" the other one was around. However, Frank poo poo in his litterbox while we were all downstairs, first time he did that since we brought him in yesterday morning. And no visible worms, so that is great. We are pretty sure someone got him for Christmas and then dumped him. He is way too friendly and affectionate. This morning I was laying on my back and he came up and layed on my collarbone with his head under my chin and went to sleep. I hope things continue to go well and if so I may be sharing more Frank here.

Yay! I love Frank, what a sweet boy. Boots has decided she's allowed on the kitchen table because it has a tablecloth on it now. Also my new work pants are now hers. Adventure boy here is bored with his tent, and would like to go chase birds and munch grass instead.

We're taking introductions as slow as we can, starting with the dog first because he is the most important one in the house. And if they can't get along then it doesn't matter who else gets along with whatever. We have a spot on our dining room floor where the sun hits just perfectly after lunch. I put the resident cat into one of our spare bedrooms and I'm letting Frank walk around to check things out. He found the sun spot.
