What's the quick and easy torrent client that hasn't been crammed full of adware nowadays? It's been years since I had cause to use it but I think I was using Deluge before

I was using Deluge up until a couple of years ago but started having problems with it. Switched to qbittorrent and have never looked back.

Qbittorrent is open source.

My buddy swears by Deluge still but I've been using QBittorrent for a decade+ no problems.

Also switched to QB from deluge. I believe (some?) new versions of Deluge have had some actual issues I can't remember if it's bitcoin mining or some security issue or what it is.

On my new Windows (10) install, url shortcuts on the desktop show up with an extension: xyz.url

Steam shortcuts show up like that too, with the firefox icon instead of the game icon.

Why is this?

Couple of things to check.
-Are the shortcuts properly formatted? Right click, go to properties, and confirm it is actually a .url or .lnk file with the expected target.
-Check your app associations in Apps/Default apps. There's two more menus at the bottom, "choose defaults by file type" for local shortcuts, and "choose defaults by link type" for the web ones.

Yes they are .url files

I can't pick a default program for .lnk files - firefox not listed

This is Win 10 Pro "N" edition btw
