I don't think I saw it posted in the thread earlier so http://classicshell.sourceforge.net/quote:Classic Shell is a collection of features that were available in older versions of Windows but not anymore. It brings back the classic start menu that Windows 7 doesn't support, adds a toolbar for Windows Explorer in Vista and Windows 7 like the one in Windows XP and adds couple more smaller features. Does a lot of wonderful things for Windows 7 but my favorite is: loving FREE SPACE AND FILE SIZE IN THE STATUS BAR! This is just a simple Dll hook and NOT a shell replacement.

I just wanted to know what reasons people have for NOT doing it, and no one has given a real reason besides "Don't". Are you always this big of a jerk when someone asks a question?

Oh no 1 megabyte. fishmech posted:Also, there's no advantage to doing it - so you shouldn't do it. I mean there's nothing wrong with painting yourself hot pink and running around your house screaming and naked, but its as much a waste of time as partitioning a hard drive. People have posted in this thread with examples of how it is advantageous, I've seen one example of how it's realistically not. How is partitioning a hard drive a waste of time? It takes seconds to create partitions on a new drive. fishmech posted:PROTIP: If you flatten and reinstall so much you try to make it take less time, you're using your computer in such a horrible way that you probably should just use a Mac. It's one thing if you have to replace a faulty motherboard on an otherwise functional system; it's another thing to move OEM software from a dead system to a completely different one. There's a reason Microsoft makes a distinction between retail and OEM products -- the latter are tied to a computer's natural life. Dude you should just yell for your mom to bring your chocolate milk and have a nap already.
