Just wrapped up the post work project. The Cherokee got new plugs, wires, distributor and rotor and wrapped it up with an oil change. But now my oil pressure is spiking at random times. Ugh, sometimes I hate this car. If it wasn't so drat reliable I'd have sold it by now.

Just finished a smallish project on the Escort. Pulled a few more parts of the donor car, pulled off the starter from good car and found part of the housing just flapping around so now I know why it hasn't been starting. Took about 2 hours because I stripped a nut on the old starter and had to remove a mounting bracket to get the whole assembly off and then I ran out of daylight before I could put the "new" starter on the good car. Hopefully I can gt it on and all buttoned up tomorrow with no issues.

Checked and re-checked every ground on the escort trying to figure out why it wouldn't start. On a lark I check the battery cables and swapped out the positive from my parts car and she started right up. Now to do tie-rods and tires and the winter car is ready!

I just put a new serpentine belt on my Jeep, the old one has raced so badly an entire rib has worn off. After that I finally got around to replacing my dipstick. Back in the spring I bumped the handle and it snapped off and every attempt to yank the dipstick out sent it further down the shaft. I had to remove the dipstick shaft in order to get the old one out. But at least I can check my oil again properly!

I spent the evening rolling the parts car into the garage and began stripping it. Pulled off the doors, hood and front wheels. One of the lugs was over torqued and I stripped it trying to turn it. Ended up using the "pound an old socket on" method and spun it right of. Tomorrow the goal is to pull the motor out and grab anything useful before I recycle the body.

Just had a new Uhaul trailer hitch installed. They were offering free installs yesterday but they were booked solid. But the guy was nice enough to float the free install to today. They just made a customer for life.

Spent 5 hours tearing pieces off the parts car so I can junk it. Nearly done, just need to get the dash and rear suspension out.

Tore apart the doors from my parts car. I wanted to save every usable part in case of problems in the future. I stripped the trim, window regulators, lock and latch from the drivers side door and pulled the glass out. Took me about an hour because I couldn't fit a ratchet inside to hit a few nuts. When I went to the other side I found that a PO had used loving pop rivets in place of a few bolts so I couldn't get the glass out of that door at the time.

Swapped out the bad tires on the Escort for the ones from my parts car that were surprisingly good. It's amazing what decent rubber does for handling.

Used a $3 metal strip to re-hang the Jeep's tail pipe. Got a good look at just how rusted the muffler is and holy poo poo it's time for a new exhaust.

I just now wrapped up replacing the inner and outer tie rods on my Escort. I used the Harbor Freight Inner Tie Rod Tool which made the job a breeze. It took longer to break the outer arts free than it did to finish he rest of the job on each side. Gonna take it in for an alignment tomorrow, get some new tires and I should be ready for winter.

Did an oil change on the Jeep last night in the dark with only a small flashlight (somebody made off with my other light) and somehow managed to put too much oil in. Hello high oil pressure this morning! Didn't have time to drain any so I had to drive the wobbly Escort to work.

Made a handshake deal to sell the Escort. Guy saw me posting about it on another forum and asked if I really wanted to sell it. He seems pretty serious and didn't balk at my asking price so I might be back to one car here pretty soon.

Cross posting from the Jeep thread. A few days ago the muffler and exhaust broke and fell off my Cherokee. So I bought a new muffler, cut the tailpipe off the old one and bolted it all together. It's now more quite than it's ever been in the seven years I've owned the Jeep. I have the tailpipe strapped up a little too close to the car so I've going to go buy a urethane bushing to go onto the original hanger. I also want to put another hanger near the front of the muffler just to be extra safe. As suggested I used Locktite on all the bolts and I'm not driving it until tomorrow morning.

Tore the broken bumper off my Escort. Primed the replacement and prepped the car for the new piece. Also treated all the little rust spots. Gonna get it all buttoned up and cleaned and on CL this week.

Cleaned and primed the new bumper for my Escort. While it was drying I tore the busted parts off the rear end of the car and cleaned up all the rusty spots. Later I shot the bumper with another coat of primer. Since I'm just doing the swap to try and make the car a more enticing buy I didn't sand it. Hoping to have the whole thing buttoned up by Wednesday.
