Welp, ETID cancelled their Euro tour. Obviously they're citing covid restrictions, but I can't help but worry there might be some bad news on the horizon

Just had my cancellation. Gutted!

Yep. If they drop from the Underoath tour (assuming it doesn't get cancelled, which I doubt it will since America isn't doing covid anymore) that will really be worrying.

Fit For A King, Silent Planet, Hollow Front, and AVOID announced a tour. I don't super care about FFAK or HF and only sorta-kinda like SP, but I'd think AVOID would probably be fun enough to justify going.

Similarly, last night I went to the Fit For An Autopsy / Ingested / Enterprise Earth / Signs of the Swarm / Great American Ghost show just to see Great American Ghost. Was in and out of the venue in under 30min. Woulda have been okay to see FFAA, but I didn't care enough to wait through the others, so I just grabbed a GAG (lol) teesh and split

I love when the band I want to see is supporting. Leaving shows early is the best.

Ya, I wouldn't have minded seeing them, but I'd made plans to get food with a buddy then hit the gym, so I did the "responsible" thing. Hell, I'd been waffling for the last week on if I even wanted to bother going for GAG, so I didn't even get a ticket til like an hour or two beforehand

In new music news, LANDMVRKS are releasing a deluxe edition of Lost In The Waves and just dropped a new track (ft Drew York) to promote it

The new underoath album is out, and it's unimpressive compared to their other work. It's melodic and heavy at times, but it feels more like a shadow of what they used to be. Kinda bummed. On second listen now

Gahdamn, y'all, it's a stacked week for heavy music releases. We've got new tapes from:

Underoath
Enterprise Earth
Fit For An Autopsy
Shadow of Intent
Worm Shepherd

So far I've only gotten around to the FFAA record and it's a lotta fun. For a second there it almost made me wish I'd stuck around to see 'em the other night (but then I remembered the DL PR I hit and the thought faded)

I have tickets to see Underoath in Boston in 2 months or whatever, and if they're just as good as this it's gonna be like transporting back to highschool. I can't wait.

They're Always Chasing Safety was such a formative album for me. I've listened to it probably at least 300 times.

That new Underoath is very forgettable and uninspired. They’re Only Chasing Safety is still phenomenal and it’s also the only record of theirs I ever was able to get into.

Not super versed with Unearth but I do remember thinking the album that had "Guards of Contagion" on it was like 80% mid and then 20% "holy poo poo this should be the whole album"

PolishPandaBear

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but Define the Great Line was peak Underoath for me. It was darker and more atmospheric than the more poppy sound of Chasing Safety.

Are you confusing Underoath with Unearth?

Also, that album loving rules lol

I think the new Underoath is really good, personally. Disambugation is my favorite album of theirs and Voyeurist feels like a natural progression from there.

I'm sad this is how it's ending rather than it being a real "Well we ran our course" type of thing. But I'm also still sad about what happened to ATDI so.

This felt inevitable. Easily the most times I've seen any band (probably 10-ish shows?) and every single one was phenomenal. Sucks that it ended in such a weird and messy way, but if it does end up being permanent, at least Radical was the best note they could've ended on.
