Oh poo poo!

I'm never on Twitch but still managed to be like a two-year subscriber because the Friday metal releases always had me discovering new bands/music.

A. There's a new Better Lovers track out. I personally think it's pretty sick, but I'm an admitted fanboy, so

B. (wholely unrelated) does anyone else ITTT get annoyed by people using "octane-core" as their entire argument as to why they don't personally love a song/band? Apparently getting songs on Octane is important(?), despite me literally not knowing a single person who listens to actual terrestrial radio, much less Sirius XM (™️). But I don't care? Bands' sound change, and the whole "pop, but with a bit of a breakdown-y vibe as the bridge" thing is a little overdone, but I control the songs I listen to and I like some of those songs. Idk, but where's the crime here?

I don't mind it. So many times where I've seen the term used, it's where a band releases something milquetoast that feels like it's lacking an edge, passion, and/or uniqueness the band previously had in their music.

as the person who last used the term - no. i don't get annoyed by it. It's a pretty succinct way of telling other people in the scene who don't like to octanecore music to steer clear of milquetoast pop music masquerading as metalcore music with empty verses, genuinely cringe lyrics, and the same absolute dogshit production and mastering done by like the same 4 dudes.
