What are our feelings on Carnifexand Suffokate? As of right now, they are the premo deathcore bands out there IMO.

Here's my band. The Nature of Monsters. Sorry my low's are kind of overpowering the laptop mic. Tell me what you guys think....be gentle, this is our second practice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=taa_hlnoRg8 I'm the frontman. OnlyJuanMon fucked around with this message at 06:35 on Mar 12, 2010 |

I mean, you said what you said. We're trying to blend black metal with core breakdowns, so I'm glad you picked up on that.... We've got a drummer lined up for next week, and like I said, only our second practice. I figured if there was ever a place for snarky commentary, SA would be the place!

Despised Icon is calling it quits. I went ahead and ordered a few t-shirts to commemorate their retirement. They said on lambgoat they plan on doing one more huge tour, so don't miss em if they come by your town. Absolutely insane pits!

Shot in the dark here, but by chance are any goons going to Summer Slaughter in Atlanta Tuesday night?

We're about due for another BDM album. They've been cranking em out every 2 years since 2003. Just sayin....

New Darkest Hour sounds incredible. Those two songs are dare I say, better than anything off of The Eternal Return. (cept Transcendence).

I know it's cool to hate on Emmure, as I did....but I caught em live last year, and they put on one hell of a show. I kinda like their new song too.

Anyone else going to the "This is Hell Tour"? It's a Who's who of deathcore right now. I Declare War Chelsea Grin Veil of Maya The Acacia Strain White Chapel I'll be at the Atlanta date on Friday night!
|
# ¿ Feb 9, 2011 04:45 |
|
Can I ask....seeing as how Emmure pretty much encompasses every modern deathcore trait out there, why is the designated deathcore SA thread so down on em?
|
# ¿ Feb 12, 2011 09:17 |
|
But see, The Acacia Strain plays up the whole gangster thing as much as Emmure. ANd in case you haven't seen em, The Acacia Strain (even though I love em)'s lyrics are horrible. I'm not apologizing for Emmure, I'm just simply pointing out that where deathcore is now is totally encompassed in Emmure, The Acacia Strain, Despised Icon (rip), etc. I just figured people in the other metal threads would tear Emmure apart., not the thread with the exact genre of music that they represent??? AND HOW IN THE gently caress is BTBAM deathcore? Are you high????

The problem with deathcore fans is, no one is understanding that the Northern hardcore gangster look has been around since loving hatebreed back in 2001. All the flat brim hats are simply an extension of the tough guy new yorker look from Northern hardcore bands like Hatebreed, Terror etc. etc. Wearing a flat brimmed hat and sleeveless t shirt's isn't emulating rap, it's emulating the way people in the NE have been throwing down for about 10 years now.

LOL. Pretty funny when there's only so many CHUGGA CHUGGA SQUEAL riffs possible out there. (loves deathcore anyways.)

Traitorous Leopard posted:Anyone got any recommendations for some melodic metalcore kinda like Misery Signals and The Ghost Inside? I've been on a stint of their stuff lately and want more. Oh gently caress you. The Ghost Inside is good old fashioned straight edge HARDCORE son. The audacity....

# ¿ Feb 20, 2011 04:28 |

And? It's positive hardcore like Stick To Your Guns. I like how you educate me with their most well known song. I've seen TGI 3 times and they're just straight up hardcore.

Jesus christ....you guys make me out to be a huge apologist. If you don't consider Emmure deathcore, well....I just don't know what to tell you. BUT, I don't care, I'm bowing out of the genre discussion. WASHING MY HANDS!!!

All I care about is seeing Darkest Hour and Black Dahlia Murder on the same night. Here's to hoping they play a brand new song..

Darkest Hour really stepped their game up with The Human Romance. Give it a listen.

The Eternal Return still has two of the best tracks they've ever written. "The Tides" and "Trancendence"

Dilemna of the century. That BTBAM and JFAC show is coming to a venue here in Atlanta UPSTAIRS. BUT DOWNSTAIRS, on the exact same night is Trapped Under Ice, Stick To Your Guns, and motherfucking Terror. I'll be sprinting up and down steps all night.

The Ghost Inside's The Lion War breakdown. So sick, they use it as an intro for their set. If this poo poo doesn't get your blood flowing, well.....we have nothing more to say to each other. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUsYIQoG4tM

BDM peaked with Miasma, and has been on the slow decline ever since.
|
# ¿ Jun 11, 2011 22:56 |

All their albums since have been good, but I still think Unhallowed and Miasma are their best. Sooooo.....hmph.
|
# ¿ Jun 12, 2011 07:37 |

It's just so.....dark. I love the themes throughout it.... I'll never forget seeing BDM back in 2005, and being STUNNED that it wasn't two seperate singers onstage.
|
# ¿ Jun 12, 2011 15:54 |
|
Your list is the exact opposite of how I like them. Nocturnal to me is too clean sounding....it's too produced and catchy...I like the raw sound of Unhallowed and Miasma, mother of god...just so epic.
|
# ¿ Jun 12, 2011 22:14 |
|
I honestly thought John had some really sick stuff, and his solos were fine. They were more structured than just free form I suppose... But if you look back to 2005 when Unhallowed came out, BDM has been through what, 12 different members? Maybe Trevor is just a dick????
|
# ¿ Jun 17, 2011 16:21 |

The fact that they're uber-christian never helps. I just can never seem to take a metal band serious that worships Jesus. Just seems so anti everything the scene is about.
|
# ¿ Jun 18, 2011 01:45 |
|
I used to subscribe to the "who cares" attitude, but when you go to a Christian show, and the bands are preaching and you're surrounded by agreeing Christians, poo poo gets real old real quick. It's just a personal hangup...

Chimaira will forever be just......there. I remember back in the early/mid 2000's, it seemed every single show I went to, Chimaira was the opener. They're not bad enough to not tour, but they aren't good enough to headline. Pass Out of Existence still owns bones though.
|
# ¿ Jun 19, 2011 15:35 |

Welp, Chelsea Grin jumped ship on deathcore, and now I just read on SS's facebook page that they also stopped doing deathcore by choice. The lead singer said he was tired of doing high's and low's. So who does that leave carrying the banner? Carnifex?

I didn't forget about suffokate...I just have a bad feeling they won't be able to live up to NMNF's perfection. Every track on that poo poo kills.
