The new Every Time I Die album New Junk Aesthetic is coming September 15th. Their new song "The Marvelous Slut" is on their myspace: http://www.myspace.com/everytimeidie

Their original (I guess) drummer, Mike Novak, recently left the band and a replacement has not yet been announced. Mike stayed around long enough to record the new album, though.

A second track from the new Every Time I Die album has emerged, as well: http://www.myspace.com/everytimeidie

Finally, a new Converge track on their myspace: http://www.myspace.com/converge

I agree. Their songwriting seems to suit me more with every album they release, though it's tough to decide between Gutter Phenomenon and The Big Dirty

In Flames definitely went far, far away from Clayman. I'm not sure what they are now either, but I think it's a lot closer to metalcore. The Faceless is the one that's really far away from metalcore, as far as I know--aren't they straight up tech-metal?

I love when bands of different genres tour with each other anyway--stuff like Zombi, Dalek, and Isis on the same tour, or Dillinger with Hella's 2-piece.

Yeah, they've really nailed it this time. More erratic than the last two full lengths, but held together by the songwriting lessons from those albums as well.

Sounds like they did a better job with the mastering than on No Heroes. I thought that album took the chunkiness to excess, personally

I was at a Converge show in Baltimore a few years ago where The Red Chord was one of the openers, and they were all about circle pits. That's the one time I can remember a band highlighting their desire to see the crowd circle.

ETID setlist follows. There may be one song missing--I'm not sure because I got my glasses knocked off like an idiot and fortunately they went under the stage instead of into the crowd, but I had to wait through part of a song for a security guy to grab them for me

anyway, without further ado, ETID setlist for 10/3 show at Sonar in Bmore:

Roman Holiday
Marvelous Slut
Ebolarama
Bored Stiff
Cities and Years
Floater
Wanderlust
Kill the Music
For the Record
Apocalypse Now and Then
I've Been Gone a Long Time
The New Black
We'rewolf

Oh and lest I forget, they loving killed it. Baltimore crowds rule

The new DEP should be really interesting if for no other reason than that they're no longer on Relapse and now have their own imprint under Season of Mist. If they let themselves quit writing songs like "Black Bubblegum," it could easily be the best thing since Calculating Infinity.

Maybe this is obvious, but it seems to me that BTBAM isn't really "metalcore" anymore. I mean, they toured with 3, Opeth, and Dream Theater, they supposedly have no live energy (something I really hope for in any band referred to as metalcore), their songs are pretty much averaging 8:00+ . . . comparing them to Red Chord is real apples to oranges stuff, to my mind.

That's not to say you shouldn't feel free to like Red Chord's new stuff more, just that I think BTBAM is quite intentionally heading in an entirely different direction.

I'll be at the Dec 15 show at the Ottobar in Baltimore. This will be my sixth time seeing Dillinger (fourth at the Ottobar) and I get more excited every time. They're by far my favorite live band and I can't wait to hear some new songs.

Yes, they are amazing live. Just don't get set on fire or kicked in the head.

Yep, truly things to watch out for. I'm pretty sure there's blistered paint on the Ottobar ceiling from the last time Greg was fire-breathing near the end of a show.

JUST ANNOUNCED:
New York hardcore group Every Time I Die is currently recording new material at GodCity Studio in Salem, Massachusetts with producer Kurt Ballou of Converge.

Keith Buckley, lyricist and vocalist, of Every Time I Die states:

"Kurt Ballou had always intimidated the living poo poo out of me, so I was overjoyed when the decision was made to record our next record with him at GodCity and I mean that sincerely. I've been a fan of his work for over a decade. His records are terrifying and moving and they sound like they were written and recorded under great duress, which is exactly how this style of music should be made. This month we join the pantheon. I couldn't be more excited to see what he helps us learn about our own band that we didn't realize for the past 15 years."

TL;DR: New Every Time I Die is being recorded with Kurt Ballou at the mixing desk. gently caress yes.

I thought it was a bit strange as a debut track since it's really short and it's track 8 on the album. However, it is good and an ETID album produced by Kurt Ballou is a dream come true. Hype.
