Circle of Contempt has their first full length album coming out in like two weeks. If you're into a Born of Osiris type vibe, these guys are sick. Definitely worth checking out for some sweet breakdowns. https://www.myspace.com/circleofcontempt

Another cool band is Stray From the Path. Their new album Make Your Own History came out not too long ago and I have to say it is pretty stellar. The pace of the whole thing is pretty much top speed the entire time. Definitely some really fun guitar work with vocals that mix perfectly. https://www.myspace.com/strayfromthepath if anyone is interested!

Negative and Violent is probably my favourite song up on their myspace, but give all the new ones a shot.

Circle Of Contempt's Artifacts in Motion is another fantastic release from Sumerian Records. For those who like Within The Ruins, Born Of Osiris, and Veil of Maya, this is for you.

I'm listening to the album right now, it's so good! The guitar solo at the end of Nothing Imminent is cool, especially the way the synth comes up behind it.

Psshaw, that solo's got nothing on AtB's solo at the end of Ometh

Without a doubt my favourite After the Burial solo. :)

Here's a local metalcore band from Toronto, they used to be called Charity's, but recently changed their name to Structures. They just posted a couple songs featuring their new style and I think it's pretty fun.

I like the song In Pursuit Of the most, but the beginning of Encounter is super bouncy and worth listening to as well!

Also, has anyone ever listened to the band (in theory)? They've been broken up for about three years now, and a few of their members went on to play in Sky Eats Airplane. (in theory) played a blend of metalcore, deathcore, and power pop and they did it fantastically in my opinion. The Bonnie Situation is easily their best song, but their entire album The Final Project is just 25 minutes of pure rock 'n roll fun.

I think I remember seeing some posts about The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza earlier in the thread, but I just thought I'd throw a heads up about a track from their upcoming album being put up on their myspace. I'm definitely looking forward to Danza III based on how this bad boy is sounding.

Just missing it at February 2009, the solo at about a minute into the song Wet Warthog by The Heartland (broken up :smith:) is definitely a candidate of 2009's Best Solo award.

BONUS: In their blogs there's a fairly well-recorded live show, with a flawless rendition of the solo and the rest of their songs.

Dude holy poo poo! This is ballin'.

That Heartland solo is gorgeous. If someone made an album full of stuff like that, I'd buy it three times on release day, and never stop listening to it.

I posted these guys in the amazing bands no one knows about thread as well, but check out Chon if you dug that solo. They're a bunch of kids from Cali who play some beautiful stuff on guitar. They're not really a -core band or anything, but you'll definitely enjoy it :).

It's called Frontier, I'm not sure how available it is though; whether it's hard or easy to find. I'm pretty sure you can get it somewhere.

P.S. Seeing Protest the Hero again on the sixteenth. They're playing Fortress all the way through.

Dude, I saw Protest on November 20th and they played Fortress all the way through. It was the first time they ever played Bone Marrow! It was amazing, they did it all note for note, then closed with Turn Soonest to the Sea and Blindfolds Aside. Totally worth going to and I can`t wait to see them in Toronto later this month.

And to plester1, Chon has two new live songs posted on their myspace if you look at their blog entries. The quality is pretty bad and the songs don`t quite measure up in my opinion, but they are fun none the less.

Lately I've been digging Speak of the Devil pretty hard. Formaldehyde & Seek rocks so hard when you crank it up, these guys are too crazy! The guitars are doing some amazing stuff in what I consider to be a really tasteful, emotional way. The breakdowns are well placed and there is a considerable amount of bad rear end riffage.

Definitely worth giving a listen.

I've never heard Lower Definition before but I'm checking them out now and they sound pretty sweet.

I'm definitely very upset with Straight Reads the Line breaking up. I saw them play all of The Author live last year and it was amazing! Only like 15 people at the show too. My plan is to catch atleast 3 of the shows on the goodbye tour this month! They're playing with a fairly decent band Kingdoms as well so they should be some good shows for sure.

So After the Burial have released a single from their upcoming album, which you can find here:

http://www.metalsucks.net/2010/10/22/exclusive-after-the-burial-bread-crumbs-and-white-stones/

I'm finding that some parts are a bit repetitive, but 1:58 and on is pretty rockin'. The riff at 2:42 is definitely the highlight in my opinion. For the rest of the album I'm hoping for a little more variation and a few more sweep/shred parts. All things considered I'm highly anticipating this album!

Love Structures, awesome dudes too.

Not sure if it's been talked about yet, but two amaaazing bands I had a chance to see last week were Last Chance to Reason and The Contortionist.

I've loved Last Chance to Reason since Level 1 came out like four years ago, and Level 2 is dropping soon and is going to be INSANE. They're pretty progressive but have dirty, super tech breakdowns. If you check out their youtube channel there are videos of the drummer showing some of the polyrhythms he plays in new songs. Definitely worth watching, they know their poo poo.

Contortionist is also ridiculous too. Both bands are pretty much masters of wack timing and definitely worth checking out if mathcore is your bag. I find the Contortionist way heavier and basically the kind of band you just jump up and down to while they play the most brutal breakdown you've ever heard, all the while switching the up and down beats every bar. All of that is interspersed with some cool melodic/atmospheric parts that are also very well done.

https://www.myspace.com/thecontortionistband Check out Flourish first, arguably their best track but I definitely recommend listening to the full album, it's unreal.

https://www.myspace.com/lastchancetoreason they have a couple tracks from the new album up and they're both pretty sick. They are also releasing a video game that they designed to coincide with the new album, I'm not that into gaming but it looks pretty cool too.
