wrestling question: why the gently caress does jericho not have a 3 disc set yet

John Morrison and the fact that 3 guys have 10 dvd sets between them might affect your perception of commonness, but there really aren't that many dvd sets dedicated to active individual wrestlers. and it' s only been about 7 years (since the Ric Flair collection in 2003). they didn't even do a Rock set until 2008 (five years after the Ric Flair collective in 2003). Can anyone imagine WWE Marketing in the year 2007 thinking "we haven't done a Rock set so oh wait we haven't done a Chris Jericho set yet either let's do that first."

Outside of two 5-month reigns, Jericho's been a career midcarder. Like imagine if Matt Hardy had won the title in 2006 only to lose it to Edge returning from injury, and then lose the Loser Leaves Town match and goes to Smackdown and continues his career as he did in reality. Now imagine if Matt Hardy had a bunch of **** matches in his backyard. Finally, try hard, but imagine if Matt Hardy could cut awesome promos. That's pretty much Jericho.

he's not and has never in his life been as good as Benoit and Eddie were or as popular the undertaker was in 2004. or kurt angle in 2006. or rey mysterio in 2007. Jericho will probably have one around 2011-2012, probably no later than that unless he kills his family.

TNA gives away matches for free like it is their job.

They gave away a rematch of the Bound for Glory 2005 main event with Jarrett winning the title back from Rhino.

They gave away the first ever Sting vs Samoa Joe match.

They also did a rematch of Kurt Angle vs Sting two weeks after Sting won the title at Bound for Glory. 3 of the 4 recent Angle vs Styles matches have been done for free. There are more, but these are the biggest ones.

Goldberg and Hogan were two of the biggest stars during wrestling's hottest period ever. Wasting their first match on free tv doesn't really compare with "wasting" a Rhino/Jarrett rematch, or any rematch for that matter.

I remember thinking Sting/Joe being silly - it ended with a Samoan Drop after like eight minutes - but they were both only around the upper-midcard at that point and you can only save so many matches for ppv without all your tv matches being repeats or squashes. And I can't imagine someone who would've otherwise bought BFG08 deciding not to because Joe and Sting had a short match on tv three years ago. Similarly, Cena and HBK had their first match ever on a Raw in 2005 and iirc they still billed their WM23 match as "for the first time ever".

Yes, they don't compare. But it was at a time when TNA had no star power. They announced Bound For Glory was their Wrestlemania for no reason, and then had the rematch 2 weeks later and reversed the title change. It'd be like if after Wrestlemania I they had a return of the main event on Superstars the next tapings to let you know there's no reason to buy PPVs.

Like the time Angle won against Brock at Summerslam but lost the title back to him on Smackdown weeks later? I'm not sure I agree that losing a title you won at a ppv invalidates that whole show; I could see someone feeling like it cheapens the moment but I'm not on that wavelength I guess. It doesn't affect my potential enjoyment of a card if last year the main event winner lost the title soon after. Either way that's not the same topic as squandering a dream match. I know this is a strawman here, but to me, Hogan/Goldberg would be like giving away HBK/AJ on impact. Right? But you wouldn't say that's just like the time Rhino won the world title at a ppv then lost it immediately.

Also the perfect time for Edge was around 2003 or so. He went from comedy tag guy, to solid midcard dude, to slowly becoming a fringe main eventer during the Smackdown 6 era, but the injury really derailed him. Plus his face run in 2004 was a mini-disaster. The guy just never adapted to it and it was a huge flop.

The worst part about his ic title reign was when he retained at summerslam in toronto and got booed (even though he's a canadian/face).

Undertaker - dudley boys, papa shango, loses to jbl a bunch of times, unfrozen nazi, terrorists, and well randy orton wouldn't be on this list if they had feuded for less than ten consecutive months

Rey - tag team hell with RVD. No they never had a match against London/Kendrick.

RVD - tag team hell with Rey of all people

Booker T - had a great yearlong arc where he lost three feuds until finally winning the big one at Wrestlemania 25 preshow battle royal

Kurt Angle - enters boring 6-month feud with the Big Show. Wrestles plants and Santa. Hell even after his phenomenal HBK program (which I'm going to say would've been impossible to gently caress up even in WCW 2000/TNA 2010) he entered the shittiest program possible where he lusted for bestiality and booker t of all people beats him clean

He was generally known as Shawn Michaels' lackey in the earlier phases of D-Generation X, but after Michaels' hand was forced and he had to retire, HHH took the helm (pun unintentional) as the leader of the group. The NAO and X-Pac were huge at the time but you're kidding yourself if they could've kept DX afloat as the figureheads. And if any of them tried bringing back DX in 2006 it would've been a laughable failure. DX was brought back and remained a force in kayfabe, TV time, and merchandise sales because of Michaels AND Triple H.

I think if Shawn Michaels did a DX reunion in the WWE with - not that they're terrific wrestlers - Chyna, Pac, Road Dogg, Billy Gunn, Nash and/or Hall, it would've still been hotcakes. Maybe even if the WWE only had four or five of those guys without HBK in 2006 - 2009.

Man imagine if Triple H had stayed with Chyna... he'd be the one crashing reality TV shows, filming porn in china, and doing the lovely VKM/Band knockoff brands in TNA. Going from Chyna to Stephanie was like going from Corey Haim to David Beckham.
