He wasn't very fast, but that's not as important as it seems, even for a running back. He'd have been one of the top running backs in the state in his class, based on his apparent record setting (unless Arlen had a tradition of being terrible before and after Hank's time). If that guy's projected Hank Stats were accurate, he'd have been one of the top running backs in the country in 1974.

Its far more amusing to me to think of Young Hank being offered a brand new sports car by, oh, SMU and him turning it down because "that would be a violation of N-C-A-A rules!," that he then refuses to consider SMU, and word spreading to other schools that he won't go anywhere that has used illegal recruiting tactics, thus eliminating every South West Conference team.

And don't forget, he had the "Billdozer" blocking for him.

That never made sense to me either, but I guess you could justify it in some way. Like, maybe Boomhauer wasn't a ranger at the beginning of the series, but by the end he had become one?

Maybe he was a ranger and got hurt in the line of duty and retired on a disability pension (I seem to remember something from one of the early episodes about him collecting disability).

Anyone over the age of 55 more or less. Some might have grown up with The Flintstones and a small assortment of other cartoons but there's also a good chance they did not get ABC where they lived(yes, really) or were given a chance by their parents to watch it. Since it wasn't an impact portion of their childhood they can't really see any cartoons as anything but extremes(childish or vulgarity-laden for immature adults).

People just kinda don't want to accept that you can deliver stellar plot and meaningful storytelling without live-action. You can put stuff like prime Simpsons, prime KOTH, The Venture Brothers up there as some of the best TV that's ever been done but because its animated it's just lesser in their eyes because they never got to make cartoons a part of their life growing up.

I'm over 55 myself, and while I'm not a big fan of cartoons per se, I'm a huge fan of KOTH. So much so that I'm still watching it on Adult Swim every weeknight. I've seen every episode so many times that I can tell you what episode it's going to be right after the theme song plays. I've seen most episodes over 10 times and I can still watch them.
