Forgive me catte thread, for I have sinned. I got up from the couch to get a drink and returned to find that my roommate's elderly, scrungly cat Jack had taken my spot. Somehow he was already cozy and snoozing even though I was only gone for literally a minute. I am not proud but...I picked him up and moved him back to his designated pillow. He made the tiniest squeak of dismay. ![]() Behold, the traumatized kitty, bravely struggling to recover from this betrayal: ![]() ![]()

When i went to the shelter go adopt i had a list of like 5-6 that I thought were cute but none of them really liked me. Milly stood out as happy to put up with my bullshit and liked petting and was super friendly i dunno how she had been there for 3 months. She was and still is a lil scraggly so maybe that's why. Butters is just Butters and kinda happened she was there when i was bored and freelance cat petting casually looking for a friend for Milly. I think I'll always want to have a tortie around and two girls has worked just fine it'll probably be what happens unless the cat distribution network says otherwise.

Ever since getting Aggie I'm sold on always having a tortie forever. I thought Scoops had a lot of attitude but she eclipses him easily. Poppy is just the most perfect generic cat you ever did see, she's my adorable no stress no concern angel and I love her for it.

my cats over the years: 1 male and 1 female TNR'd at ~4mo old and given to me rather than returned outdoors 1 female adult TNR that a neighbor befriended, then gave to me because she had too many cats to take another 1 female kitten from a litter that a semi-wild cat gave birth to in my parents' garage (I didn't choose which one, family chose for me) while i was a childe living at home, there were four family cats: 2 male kittens from the same litter 2 male adults who showed up in our yard and adopted us the only time gender was chosen rather than left to fate was the 2 male kittens. dad wanted us to pick one male from the litter we went to see, and we succeeded on gender but failed at getting only one

when adopting pellinore I went looking for a male cat on purpose just because I was still so sad about catface passing away that I wanted as different a cat as possible for noodles though I just told the shelter I wanted a friend for my older cat and they went "we have just the beast for you" ![]() ![]()

I've only had female cats, the ones we got as a kid I think there was some dumb 90s logic involved but I don't remember what it was, and as an adult I don't think I would intentionally adopt a male just because I would be so paranoid about the potential for blockages. I don't believe there's any real difference in personality between sexes but there sure is on specific physiological difference.

I wanted a big cat that I could cuddle better, and an orange one since I like the braincell meme. I think that skews pretty heavily toward males, and that's how I got Huey. After spending eighteen years with my two male childhood cats, Mom decided she wanted a girl for her next cat. Now she has Shakti.

glad to see Aggie made it home in similar news: I'm coming home from vacation on a cruise and our housesitter alerted us that Rocco got out when he was taking out the garbage. I'm pissed because I was emphatic that he make sure the basement door was closed when he went down there. I was worried exactly this would happen. the good news is we can see his AirTag hasn't gone too far, and were able to catch a slightly earlier flight home. It's cold and rainy today so he's probably camped out under someone's porch

Synthbuttrange posted:Overall impressions to me is that ladies can be more skittish, while the boys tend more towards amiable dumbassese. I have 2 boy cats and have lived with some roommates’ cats (strangely also all male) and that’s my general assessment. Some friend’s have had some extremely neurotic female cats, but then again some other friends have a male cat I’ve literally never seen. And yes the urinary issues suck rear end. ![]()

She's drawn blood enough times that we've learned our lesson). There's just no trusting people to actually take your instructions seriously, and then you're worrying the whole time you're out. We get them set up with a ton of food and water and they're fine for up to a week. We might set up a camera to peek in on them or ask my mom to go around and peek in the windows to check in on them, but they've always been fine besides being very needy when we get back.

Butter tries to escape at the best of times and there's no telling how she'll react when we disappear for that long. I'm really worried she's going to make a break for it while we're gone. She does have a rough life at home so I can see why she's so desperate to escape: ![]()
