our friend went over to see if she could find him and got hands on him but he got away. (house sitter had to go to the office for a couple hours)

with any luck the idiot will be home before we are

Oh no, go home Rocco.

It really is the worst thing when you're far from home and can't help them immediately. My partner is going to be very trepidatious about leaving again. Sucks cause that cat sitter had sat for us like 5 times before and was really good all the other times and we'd never want to kennel them. They get too stressed when moved out of home and someone needs to take care of the plants anyway.

Funny that we chose not to have kids so we could travel and be more free in general and have ended up in the same predicament with the cats (wouldn't have it any other way)

got back and got him home within 15 minutes. freaked out a bit but I caught him in a spot he couldn't run from and was super tense and tried to get seat from me until we got in the house at which point he stopped and was like "oh know this place!"

Yay!

You mentioned he's wearing an airtag - is that attached to a collar? I've considered trying a collar like that for Butter but she's gone 12 years collar free and I'm not sure she'd put up with it.

yeah he had one attached to his collar. we put them on both the boys as soon as we got them. Seville never had as issue wearing his, but Rocco figured out how to unlatch some of the ones he's had. been good with his current one, thankfully

Cats cure all ills. Post more of them.

Toaster and Lucky's fear response when someone new comes inside is to run and hide under the bed.

I worry more about them trying to go outside when I get home.

That said, I'm surprised there are just not cat hotels? We have those and a boarding service at the vet. You book a room with wall mounted perches and scratchers, a tree, and a window they can look at ppl on the street below through, well lit, and you just bring the food they need. The vets boarding room for cats also has a big cat tree and space for them to run a bit, too. It's not terribly expensive, the local one here is 20k won for a room+10k won if you have a second cat, per day.

eh, depends on the cat. I had to get a sitter for zeke (and a vet that did house calls) because he was an angry violent furball if I took him anywhere. he was best friends with both when they’d come over but he had multiple danger stickers on his record at the old vet i had to take him to.

cilantro on the other hand loves everyone no matter where he is and would love a cat hotel

Boarding places are common down here in Oz, we always used them for Misty when I was young and my sister uses them for Aggie if she can't arrange a friend to come by twice a day. (If she can, though, she prefers to have a friend come by, it's less traumatic for Aggie.)

Misty was a bit troublesome because she loathed them and would try to murder everyone involved, but eventually our vet opened one and we used them because they knew how to handle her.

It's all gone up-market since I was a kid. The place my sister goes to has like four tiers of cat boarding rooms, with the richest most spoiled ridiculous cats getting the Ski Chalet or Surf Hut suites:

Why yes that is a private television and their own relaxing ambient sound system.

Or for cats who are only millionaires instead of billionaires they also have a bunch of 'Destination Villas' such as the pictured Fuzz Aldrin’s Catmosphere or what I'm sure is a bird pun of some kind.

I guess they know cat owners are crazy
