Zeke has to put up with Louie, who, even though he's nearly nine years old, still has only two modes: insane kitten spaz and dead to the world.

When I was a wee lad my parents had a cat that was amazingly tolerant of my childlike manhandling. They just know.

The cats I have now are generally pretty friendly to others but are scared-to-loving-death of children. They're all like "whaaaaaaaaat the gently caress is that tiny human thing?"

Found out about a month ago that Louie has lymphoma. Started chemo that day, with remarkable success. Today was round two. Sorry buddy, it's for your own benefit; the second it causes an ounce of discomfort I'll do the right thing. <3

What kind is it? Elena was diagnosed with small-cell intestinal lymphoma, almost a year and a half ago now. She gets a chemo pill every three days and is doing awesome!

Pretty advanced. He went from healthy to not eating or drinking with a very pronounced limp in his hind leg overnight. I took him to the doc initially because his eye had some obviously enflamed blood vessels. It quickly turned into a "holy crap this cat is in deep trouble" sort of situation. He gets prednisone once a day and chemo once a month. Everything has gone amazingly well since then.

i've had a number of cats over the years, and Louie is seriously pretty unique. He's basically never grew out of his kitten-spaz phase. imagine having a kitten for 10 years: that's louie. folks at the vet literally come out of the woodwork when they see he's on the schedule; tuesday he got visits from two docs, three vet techs, and the entire front office staff.

More louie

theres no doubt - he was the most lovable of all the cats ive ever known - the most un-catlike cat of all cats

even the vet was like, this is the most chill cat ive ever seen. let me take a needle biopsy of his kidneys and was like "eh, whatever."

maybe it's nothing and you'll be out 100 bux, but maybe it's something insanely serious and you just saved a catte life.

one christmas i put up a (fake) tree, then went out of town for about ten days

when i got back there was a cat-sized spiral from the ground all the way to the top of the tree, with little fur-bits stuck on various branches

i stopped putting up a christmas tree after that year

hey cat thread imma take zeke halfway across the world to hong kong for a number of years. two questions:

1. i gotta get 'em chipped (he was a street rescue years ago). anything to consider when microchipping a 12 yr old cat?
2. how the gently caress do i make a cat comfortable for a 17 hour flight? (trig?)

no quarantine in HK. Just pick 'em up from the airport and carry on about yer business. Basically just needs a recent rabies vaccine and proof thereof.

sorry beatlegs

mom passed along that one of my childhood kitties, ritalin, passed last night. she was almost 18, so it's not unexpected but still.

Don't have any recent photos on me, so say hello to the late 90's/early aughts.

ritalin was an indoor cat, but managed to escape outdoors once, before she was fixed, resulting in teenage mom kittens (she was maybe a year old when she had them):

just a couple months ago my parents were loading groceries into the car in the parking lot and a couple came up to thank them. They had adopted two of the fuzzballs above, and somehow recognized my folks ~16-17 years later. 15 year old kittens are doing great.
