I've long believed that 1) The right cat finds you when you need it, and 2) Cats will tell you their names (but Olive is a pretty cool name tbh).

Also I need to have been packed like an hour ago but I am reading about cats on the internet and this is pretty danged important.

Here is a cat. It was taken near Lake Van but it is not a Van Cat. This was as close as it would let me get.

The important thing to remember is that Cabot isn't feeling dread or unease about the future. He's a cat. Just keep him happy and loved and playful as long as he feels like it and he'll have the best life a cat can have. Every day's just as special to him as it is for you. Maybe even more.

Now I've got to do something about this dust...

Holy poo poo guys, you are so generous. THANK YOU. I am footing the bill right now because I am the man of the house and have a good engineering job, but seriously, HOLY poo poo you made my week with your generosity. My heart grew two sizes and I'm gonna die thanks to you :3:

I came home yesterday to Luisfe telling me about a dying catte, which I thought was my friend's because she lost hers the same day. I was horrified and convinced him to call our vet ASAP and see if he could at least euthanize him, which he did and you know how things turned out!

He was in such bad shape I thought he was gone for sure. I even got really low blood pressure at the vet and had to lay down for a while, I couldn't bear it.

As you can see, he is WAY better right now. He's the chillest cat ever, extremely loving and grateful. He has such a nice character, that if we don't find his owners, we already have a home lined up for him.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zdfJOgbhV4

I'd love to keep him but Gollum is a bitch and I love her mad fuzzy butt, so no way. I'd call him Queso.

This is his bell, look at how messed up it is!

And on another happy note, my friend did find her catte.

That purr. Mein Gott.

So glad this has gone so well so far.

yospos i need help. i will be introducing my cat to an dog. how do this.

If you can, put (cheap) pillowcases or mini-blankets or something on where both the cat and dog sleep for a few days (so they smell like them), and then swap the cloths so that they can get used to each other's smell before meeting. Then make sure the cat has places to observe the dog from afar/above before forcing a meeting on the ground level. Also make sure you've got a way to separate them if things get physical.

Then throw all this advice out because cats and dogs hate doing whatever it is you prepared for in any situation ever.

Just reporting in that Feliway can work miracles, especially with skittish formerly-feral cats. My mom has such a catte, who runs from everything not-Mom and generally lives in a hidden box in the closet. Second day with Feliway and she was strutting around their condo like she owns it.

Apparently a fort warms variant helps, too...

I'll never not miss Sylvester, our big, dumb, broken, loving cat. He showed up at our house scraggly and full of scars, and fell over himself loving us and our family. He was generally confused, but had a pathological need to love you, someone, anyone. We don't know how old he was when he came to us, but he filled our lives with love (and vomit - he never learned to eat slowly) for nearly 10 years. He's been gone longer than that and I still miss that moment where his face would change from confusion (default) to joy when he recognized someone.

So yeah, it's worth it. But like anything that's worthwhile, there's a cost when it's over.

A play in three acts:

I love cats and think they are great.

I bought a house and had to spend over five thousand earth dollars ripping out and replacing wood that had otherwise lasted 80 years but was soaked in cat pee.

The next person to rent that house will not be allowed to have a cat, and I am very sorry.
