what's the word on the pos about anti-allergy cats? they're not those weird hairless ones or cost $5000 right? i want to get a cat but living with a normal one would just be completely unbearable for me

Also most people who care about ~~pedigree~~ want a kitten as young as possible, because of course they do. it seems to be easier and cheaper to adopt an adult (usually ex-breeding) cat. plus it comes pre-spayed because they've got to protect their business!!

well i visited the breeder (british russian blues) and it was the first time i've ever been able to actually have a cat on my lap and pet it :3 then an unneutered male was brought in and all the fluids in my head decided to try to escape but still it was amazing! god i wish i could just go to the nearest shelter. sadly it'll be a while before this breeder has an adult to adopt but gently caress getting a pedigree kitten

hi catte thread, you may remember that i was asking about hypoallergenic cats a while back. well i've been visiting a russian blue breeder (boo hiss) and in August will be adopting a 2 year old mother who had to get an emergency cesarean and has a huge scar, and a 6-month kitten (not hers but they are from the same house) who was rejected by the person who was originally interested because she doesn't "confirm to the breeding standard" (has a white patch on her neck). i have been continually asking nearby shelters if they have anything too, but nothing turned up there visiting their house was literally the first time in my life that i've been able to to play with kitties, give belly rubs and neck skretches etc without suffering

This is Newt. She is 5 months old (and a pedigree hypoallergenic russian blue). Ripley is 2 years old, but is currently in hiding.

Now that I opened the curtains, Ripley has a new favourite haunt:

she was previously on the window ledge behind the curtains, i think the main concern is how hidden she is from the room, not how much sun she's getting. now they're both upstairs somewhere (probably under a bed).

Ripley update: now has stopped hiding and is acting like a normal cat again! she was mostly sitting around swishing her tail for Newt to play with, but there was some pretty aggressive rubbing against us too! not so much lap cuddling but whatever, we'll get there. it has only been 2 days since they came to live with me

day 3: Ripley still hiding, although she was hungry enough to let me talk to her and stroke her while she was eating this morning Newt is confident enough that I did a dry-run for nail trimming, even if it'll be a week or two before she actually needs one

also i'm not even attempting to make sure that ripley (2 years) eats the adult food and newt (3-4 months) eats the kitten stuff. usually i just take advantage of the fact that the kitten food is apparently way nicer and newt will come eat it straight away to get first pick. guess that won't last forever!

trimmed Newt and Ripley's claws today, it wasn't so bad. they got lots of treats even if they spent a few minutes hanging from the scruff of their neck and complaining. neither tried to bite or scratch at all.
