Radio! posted:hey tell us/post more of this excellent land koi Her name is Rosemary and she's a huge loud shithead! She's the neediest animal I've ever owned and completely dependent on human attention and proximity; she has to be near humans, although not necessarily within petting distance, because cat. She'll howl at the door after someone leaves the apartment and is a big fan of the "sit in an empty room and yowl until a human entertains me" trick. She's not good at sitting on laps, but will kind of drape her front paws on you if she feels like it. She's way too drat fat, which we need to work on, but it's tricky figuring out cat diets in a small apartment with another cat we want to maintain his current weight. Basically, she's a big dumb high-maintenance mess, and I would take a bullet for her. File photo:

Natalie Fartman posted:Well, the inevitable happened when you try and mix painting with housing a cat - she stepped on my palette and ran little blue kitty footprints all over my sofa and carpet. This once happened with one of my parents' cats, except it was brick-red paint. I feel like it was karmic feedback for my dad deciding to paint his bathroom brick red.

This is Meyer: He's about 12 and is a former stray and reformed rear end in a top hat cat who's become mellow and sweet. Right now he's enjoying this cardboard box my fiance brought home from work: Our other cat is Rosemary, a thoroughly ridiculous creature: She's about 7, huge, fluffy, clingy, and obnoxious. She's the most human-needy cat I've ever met and spends most of her time hanging out near us, even though she's very bad at laps. She's also extremely loud. Rosie's currently broken out of her latest "wander around the house meeping to try and get humans to pay attention to her" phase, but I'm sure she'll fall back in soon enough. At least she's very photogenic: Here's Rosie starting poo poo with Meyer, because she's terrible: I love them both unreasonably. Stitch is so good, and I'm so glad she has a home. The new baby fluffico is really amazing and makes me regret that we didn't know Rosie as a kitten. She looks like she's going to be gigantic.

VelociBacon posted:So I guess they use ketamine for sedation then? It causes that kind of hypersalivation. I was wondering what they're going to use on Quill. Talk to your vet, but 4 months is pretty normal; I know a lot of rescues will spay/neuter kittens as soon as they weigh two pounds, which iirc is the minimum safe weight for anesthesia. Heats can start in cats at 6 months or so, so it's probably best to snip early.

computer angel posted:Why do so many torties have that line down their face? I think it's their anatomical midline, so the line is an artifact of early cell division, since the hair-color split starts there? I don't know if this is a fact or just my personal theory, though.
