OK, so here are our three fuzzy idiots.

Muffin, who doesn't like anybody (excuse MY WIFE'S foot and the mess of a living room)

Cleo, who is a kleptomaniac little fluffball and keeps stealing stuff then giving us the same "What?" look when we find her with them (this one being my wife's stuffed Flounder - she used to "be friends" with Ariel at Disney World)

And the suuuuuper modest corpse, Griffin. Before we had him fixed he curled his tail up between his legs, now he lets it all, err, just hang out.

Griffin and Cleo are about as much of a couple as any neutered/spayed pair can be.

Edit: dammit, Awful App quoted the wrong photo. Well, anyway, that one with his back legs looks like a real Manx to me. My mom used to have one when I was growing up.

It's a Munchkin, or else a Minuet aka Napoleon (Munchkin/Persian cross). They're all absurdly fluffy, and the extremely short legs make the tail look even bigger and fluffier than it really is.

I will be moving from Atlanta to DC with Leo and CJ in a month.

That's a 10 hour drive at normal speeds but will likely be over 13 hours at 55 mph since I'll be towing a U-Haul trailer in my Prius.

I was originally planning to stop overnight at a friend's place in Richmond, but he lives downtown and parking with the trailer on a Saturday night will be nigh impossible to find. Plus I don't know how the cats would handle a 10 hour drive, a new environment for 12 hours, another 3 hour drive, then finally the new destination. It seems that if I can manage the entire 13 hour drive in 1 shot and arrive at a reasonable time in the evening, that would be preferable.

I briefly thought about having the Litter Robot powered and available for the trip but they might just poop and pee everywhere inside the car. Of course, the alternative is them pooping/peeing in their carriers and getting it all over their fur which isn't appealing either.

What is everyone's experience doing a long drive with their cats?

Any normal cat, yes, drug them. It's a nightmare.

Dinah, well, at least for 9 hours she's good. (She's never been on a longer trip.) Just let her out of her bag and my wife keeps her on a leash so she doesn't try to get under my feet while I'm driving.

Delurking to fill the Munchkin quota for the thread, since Lucky's owner hasn't posted him lately.

The wife and I took Dinah, our Minuet (half Persian), on a little trip last weekend.

She travels just fine.

As long as she can poke her head out of her bag, she's fine.

Wait a minute, that's not our cat. The white spots are flipped. What the hell is going on here? Oh, right.

Everyone, meet Vlad, Dinah's littermate brother!

No, there's no resemblance between the two of them.

The breeder we got Dinah from encourages her customers to send in pics of the kittens, and we noticed more than once that Vlad's owner posted pics that were downright uncanny. We'd joke about "When were you in my house?" or "When did you steal my cat?" Anyway, over the course of three years, we became friends, and now this weekend we finally managed to meet up, just in time for their 3rd birthday.

oh my god this is adorable. how did Dinah and Vlad like meeting?

They were tolerating each other ok, a little bit of growling at first and quiet hisses, nothing major. They were peacefully sniffing each other by the end of the three days we were up there. He sat in her bag and she climbed all over his cat tree, so they got to a place of coexistence. I'll have to get more of the pictures from the wife.

We're planning to try and do this again sometime. It was fun, and they seemed to get along decently enough. (We live 3 or so hours away from each other, so it's not a long slog. Good weekend getaway.)

Munchkin kitten. They are really, really, ridiculously cute, but as kittens they have issues getting around, especially up and down things.

As kittens, that is. Once their back leg muscles come in, as any Munchkin owner can attest to, they can get up into places you wouldn't even expect a cat to be able to reach.

How the heck does Korea have foster Munchkins, let alone any Munchkins? It took us months just to find a breeder for one here in the US. And then waiting a few more months for the mix we were looking for (fluffy orange female).

(And before you ask, we've got two other cats, one adopted from a family's barn cat litter, and another we literally got out of a parking lot. Dinah was very much a special order, but all kitties deserve good homes, too.)
