Regarding Rapey Joes chemical tank, would clear water effects tinted with ink, with some skeleton/ghoul bits look as good as it does in my head?

For the open tanks at the rear I mean.

Also, painting advise required for the scales on my Alpha legion tanks:

Better pic of the tank:

So I can easily paint the insert before glueing it, I was wondering blue layered/highlighted up to green, or just green?

If you do the latter, make sure the water effects is only a thin coat else you'll run into the possibility that it'll just look like vaguely clear liquid over a green base. Hope that makes sense

Maybe progressive layers of lesser tinted mixtures? Or do I not understand how this works?

I just ordered all the models I need to finish 1500pts of CSM. That should tide me over for 12-24 months or so with converting & painting everything, which is kinda lucky as with a kid on the way I'm not going to have any spending money for about 18 years

2 Vindicators
A Defiler
20 CSM
10 SM tac squad

Ad-Mec Defiler & Vindicators, 30 non-chaos marines of various marks of armour on simpler bases, finish & paint the lot.

How do you goons with kids cope by the way?

A bit late, but the ones you have now can be altered. All you have to do is put in caps to the empty spaces, something like green stuff or Apoxie Sculpt would work. My only concern with doing this is that it might ruin some of the effect of depth that the bases have.

I thought that might be a viable idea, I've no experience with casting however & was uncertain how deep an undercut I could get away with. A goon is paying me to make 32 bases and honestly I think I can knock the lot out pretty quickly.

Cakefool: Are those just standard platicard tubes or did you find a more economical way to get plastic tubes.

Plasticard. It's not bad if you do a fairly big order, plus I'm not actually using a lot of material for these. For example EMA models (UK plastruct) has 4.8mm O.D, 8 pack of 375mm long for 4.02 with Vat, that's 3m of plastic tube. Add some box, some girder & a second tube size & you're up to 15-18 for a similar amount of each. That'll last you a thousand conversion.

Also, any plastic scraps I can get my hands on, broken pens, propelling pencils, bits of broken stationary etc. The purple circle is a bit from a tipex-tape dispenser

Also, looking at the close up of your base, the treadplate plasticard from Antenociti is the same as you've used.

That's better than mine. Mine has no built-in rule & the deeper horizontal arm section means that is less likely to distort & spiral in on smaller circles.
Antenociti treadplate is like 1/2 the price I paid for mine. I was struggling to find it at a reasonable price.

I started cutting out my Space Hulk Genestealers last night and now I feel compelled to ditch the sand/rocks base (original plan was to have thin rocks angled outwards to give the impression of a crater) and go with a space ship/hulk themed base. I don't think tech is done enough since it's so easy to paint rocks/ground. Plus the idea of a Trygon bursting through the floor of a space station is pretty priceless. I'm not really sure how I would go about doing it though. right now I'm thinking about bent I beams and bent tiles forming a ring around the Trygon. I'm not sure about that, though. If he burst up out of the floor he wouldn't be sitting in the hole, since the hole would have to be big enough and deep enough to accommodate him. But I do want to give some impression that this is what the Trygon did. Any ideas or suggestions?

Trygon has a tail right? Have a large access hatch thrown back & edges torn apart, majority of trygon through the hatch, tail wrapped around a large beam/column. Build the base up about 25mm in depth.

Alternatively, where are you, what base size, I'll make you one.
