I even had a moment of "wait a minute, there's dirt on that part- oh, that's on my side." We're learning detailing at my school (part of a decidedly comprehensive auto tech course), and while my teacher is pretty anal about getting everything just right, he'd probably be driven insane by the OCD Detailer. I mean, seriously, he got new rims because he had NIGHTMARES about the dirt on the old ones.

Reminder that the OCD detailer guy is the way he is because that's how you attract high paying retards who will give you $12k to wash their Veyron. Seriously, he has customers that pay him thousands of dollars to wash their cars because he has set himself up as that crazy over-the-top OCD detailer guy who will take a Q-tip to the grease in your hinges.

If you wax, a microfiber towel will take off the pollen easily (if the surface is dry). Takes a grand total of 2 minutes for the whole car. Yes, my car is black.

All the work is undone as soon as you get on the road and start hitting bugs/rain/dirt of any kind. I either pay the local Kosovans a fiver for a hand wash or get the £1.70 wash and dry at the local petrol station. By the time I get home it's not as clean. IDGI

Like I said above, it's because being retarded like that gets him customers since he's known as the detailer who leaves no stone unturned. He charged $12k to "paint correct" a Veyron. He charges thousands of dollars for a normal wash and wax and he is booked solid for months. He's crazy like a fox.

I wonder if I can adapt his business model and start a company that properly exercises expensive cars for rich motherfuckers who are too busy running banks, etc in order to drive all of their gorgeous classics enough. "I assure you, I'm very thorough."

I don't wash my car when it's misbehaved. I'm quite serious; i've not washed my miata since I got it in August. I love my car but it doesn't feel right giving it that much care when the engine was peeing out oil, the diff's rattling and the windscreen has dings in it. I've fixed two of the three main issues now, when i've fixed everything and it's being a good car again it will be rewarded with a detailing. I'm also torturing myself with blown speakers, I won't replace those until the rest of the car's behaving too...

You're doing that the wrong way around, clean it and it'll run better, neglect it and it'll break just to spite you. As soon as I washed my car it stopped pissing coolant and oil, then a bird shat on it, I haven't bothered cleaning it and it's started being difficult again.

I dunno, I never washed my racebike, it only functioned when I managed to keep it's average RPM over 6k RPM. If I spent a bunch of time dicking around with it in the garage, it'd never work. If I put it in the garage, forgot about it, dragged it out for the next trackday, it always ran great. Trying to get it looking shiny always hosed me...had it nice and color matched, had no end of problems, crashed it, it was 3 different colors thanks to the spares I had on hand, it ran great for the rest of the season.
