See this bullshit right here? That red line costs you $2.42. It is less than 200m long.

The reason it's done is that the tram tracks often form one of the vehicle lanes as well. That is, cars can drive over many of the tram tracks. In those instances, you can't have a right-turn lane as the right-most lane IS the tram tracks. As such, they sit in the far left instead. You're right that in cases where the tram tracks up the centre of the road are dedicated tracks then you could potentially have a protected right arrow, but when it is literally one of the car lanes as well, you cannot.

ONLY Melbourne does this. Hook turns aren't even taught in driving where I live in Brisbane, as we don't have any of those intersections.

(Mirror right with left for US style driving example.)

Plenty of our Brisbane cabbies have no problem tuning right from a left hand lane. Especially if it's across multiple lanes.

I used to be a courier and saw one take a right turn onto George St from the far most lane of Ann st.

Complete opposite end of the spectrum vehicle, but when I had it, my 1978 Ford Escort has a similar problem, tacho going haywire, sounded as though I had dropped a cylinder, but it was my alternator that was shot.

Replaced it and everything was fine.

I know it's completely different, but couldn't hurt to check?

As for the "grounding issue," the same jackass that did those poor-rear end connections and clipped all the harness wires simply took the radio ground wire, stripped off about two inches, then wrapped it around a bit of metal. Did it work? Yes, theoretically.

I imagine if you lift yourself out of your seat you could apply hundreds of pounds of pressure. 80 is firm but not absurd.

Wouldn't work like that. You'll get more pressure seated with your back fixed against a seat that lifting yourself up.

Plus you should be able to exert more force though your leg than your actual weight.

Do you weigh more than 80 pounds? Can you stand up while holding any weight at all? Congratulations, you can apply at least 80 pounds of force to the brake pedal.

Not that I've ever sat down with a scale rigged on a pedal but I don't think 80 pounds is going to feel all *that* hard. I will admit that for driving around town I do prefer a heavily boosted / low-effort pedal like my Jeep has, though.

I weigh 85kg and yes if I was stood on a scale that shows 85kg.

But think about how it's set up if you lift your self out of your seat. The wheel becomes your pivot point and the brake pedal is what your stood on.

To exert the same amount of pressure you have to make sure your body stays still which means you have to lock your arms, and extend your legs. Even then your not directly above the brake so the effective weight your actually putting on the pedal will be reduced as it's on an incline.

With your back against the seat all you need to do is extend your leg which would exert more force through the pedal as your locked in and can't move.

Pictures would do this better justice and I'm sure someone more versed in physics would be able to explain it better than me.

All good man, got my wires crossed. Chances are everyone that claims they have a runaway are not good drivers to begin with and can't react accordingly.

I recently got my truck license and though I considered myself to be a good driver, it's pointed out some very glaringly bad habits I've accrued over time.

I'd highly recommend at least doing some lessons for a truck, it certainly makes you more considerate on the road.

This is supposedly the heavy duty window regulator for a Hyundai i30.

This dogshit piece has broken 4 times in 4 years.

Pray it doesn't break whilst it's raining cause there's no way to keep the window up without removing the whole inner door frame and propping it up with 2 pieces of wood.

It hasn't rained where I live for about 3 months, it broke last night and I awoke in the middle of the night to pouring rain.

PLA will shrink about 2.5% when the temperature rises if it gets high enough where you live, a little more on the axis where the layers are, closer to 3.5%. I designed and printed a phone/QI charger holder for the cup holder in my 04 Tacoma and it shrunk noticeably here in Vegas. It went from fitting perfectly in the cup holder with no slop to having a good deal of rattle in it over the span of 2 weeks or so in summer. That said, after the initial shrink it stayed stable just fine and I've been using it for 2 summers now. If you print one, you can scale it up by 2.5% then do the equivalent of annealing it in hot water to make the size stable. There are guides online.
.

That is great info, thank you!

The one in the middle is the one that failed, OEM printed on the left, which doesn't fit the rail, printed copy on the right which fits great.

Turns out my regulator must have been fitted with a skoda/vw part as that's the one on thingiverse that matches.

I'll bring in the printer to work tomorrow and increase it by the 2.5 % with 100% infill, the one I did last night was only 10% for sizing and that was a two hour print. Will remove the tower sticking out as it's not needed on my car.

Replaced the drivers side window regulator in my mk4 three times and passenger once over the ~10 years I owned it. Given the horror stories I don't consider that too bad considering I lowered the drivers side window at least half way every week day to get into work.

Quoting this as I've now found out it's the mk4 golf regulator that it has been swapped out for.

I got it kinda fixed. I beefed up the clip side and printed it up on 100% infill, but managed to completely cover up the mounting hole for the bracket that clamps the window.

However the clip fits on the other side and can mount it backwards so I strung it that way.

But this way makes the bracket rub against the rail, I can at least get it closed, but I'll adjust the part and reprint it and refit next week. Window just will stay up now.

If nothing else, I can disassemble the door and mechanism at F1 pit stop speed.
