I had an 89 Taurus (3.0) as my first car. Transmission never failed. Not sure how.

We had an 89 Taurus we bought new in 89 (To replace the 87 MT-5 that my Mom loooooooved but got wrecked) We never had the transmission replaced in it either. The car went to 275k and the odometer failed, and my dad drove it another 3 years. When the Ford place called asking about it (thinking they could get an easy sale out of us, they pretty much called me a liar when I said the car was fine, we weren't looking right now.

However, its easy to get around most of them as long as you don't slam on the brakes and show weakness. If you do that they'll pounce and then do 5 under the limit to mock you.

That's how you drive in MA, period. Show weakness, you get rolled over, and whomever's bumper is ahead when the merge lane ends, wins.

I'm always surprised that Boston didn't turn out like that shopping center. The city primarily consists of landfill.

Boston also has everyone in the fill part of the city sitting on piles. I believe that the Trinity church has something like 4500 piles that it sits on.

I am a network engineer. I have started telling people "if it's not 19 inches wide and costs at least as much as a new midrange luxury car I don't know how to fix it."

This confuses them enough that they stop asking.

I'm a Desktop Support guy, in that same vein I don't know how to work the specialised software they have here. I'll fix your desktop, but don't look at me strange when I tell you I don't know how to work SAP when you need help formatting a report.

We had a 89 Ford Taurus, and the mechanic told us "If [the power steering pump] isn't making noise, it's broken."

People do it, too. As soon as it's warm enough to drive around with your windows down (May) you can hear everyone who's too fuckin' lazy to take them off, chewing up the road all year round.

Sounds like peeling velcro when they drive by slowly.

UHT milk should be loving outlawed, so gross.

When you only drink milk in coffee or cereal, UHT is fine. I like milk that I don't have to buy in friggin quart increments to prevent it from spoiling.

I am endlessly amused though that my in-laws are dairy farmers and they HAAAATE milk. They don't even keep it in the house.

I once vaporized a screwdriver...

Was helping a friend install a new clothes dryer. He had managed to wire the cord wrong; forgetting to use the included jumper between the ground and neutral terminals. (for those who don't know, 240v electric clothes dryers in the US are typically sold without cords, you have to install one yourself)

Or you could be like me and wire the neutral and ground backwards! Then you have an energized outer case of your dryer. That was a surprise the first time I grabbed the door...
