What I don't understand is that I've seen gobs and gobs of Triple Crown trailers set up on a train like that, but I've never seen one actually being hauled by a tractor. Why don't they just invest in proper train cars?

Yeah, I don't really see how you'd fix that without owning a decent machine shop. Are you able to get new guts or will it have to be a whole new box? I grabbed a couple more pictures of my ex-muffler but I'm on my phone so I'll post them later.

Not long. I'm not driving it right now as it is. There are still things I want to do with it before I'll feel comfortable taking it on the road by myself. I've yet to tear into the brakes (), so I'll mostly likely pick up a cheap muffler and get that in when I tackle that. The steering is a lot lighter than I'd like it to be, too. I can't tell how it compares to my old car as it's been too long for me to remember. Brakes first though. I wish I still had all my brake drum tools from my last Nova, but I think they're gone. It sounds pretty loving awesome right now, though.

So I just put a big-rear end post on Ford's facebook wall, but I won't subject you all to that. I just changed the filler neck on my 2000 Mustang because the clowns that designed the part wrapped part of it in plastic corrugated tubing so it could collect dirt and rust the filler neck. Tadaa.

Being that I'm the only person on the loving planet without a proper set of vise-grips (although I do have one of these), I'm seeing a purchase in my near future. Any excuse for another tool, right? I'm not too concerned with cutting it off completely if I have to, though. It will just give me an excuse to replace my old factory brake lines .

Didn't realize I'd kick off brake fitting/vise-grip chat. I'll beat on it a little more this weekend, but I'm honestly not worried about it. The lines are 40+ years old and most/all of the brake stuff is getting replaced anyway. If I have to cut it off and replace it, so be it. Thanks for all the input.

Sucks about your socket exploding, but it's pretty amazing. I'm surprised your breaker bar doesn't have a curve in it now. I had to put together about 2 feet worth of breaker bar + cheater pipe on Sunday to break loose a bolt holding a drum brake backing plate to my spindle. The passenger side came out with a 1/2" drive ratchet, but the driver side fought me all the way. I must've hammered on it with a combination of my impact gun and a 3 lb. engineer's hammer for a couple minutes straight and it didn't give a poo poo. Leverage rules all.
