I went through the process with my husband (he's the aussie, I'm the yank) a year ago. It doesn't really matter where you get married, just keep in mind that you will have to wait for a few months for the paperwork to go through. We got married in the US, had most of our paperwork sent off within the week, and were granted the visa within 4 months, and I had a fairly complicated case due to an issue that turned up during the health screening. One site I found really helpful is http://yanksdownunder.net, they've got a lot of people that have gone through this, and are really good about giving advice.
