Wow, this thread.

I played a MUD called The Eternal City for close to a decade. It was a Roman-themed game, and I played every role from a law-abiding Militiaman to a bank robber. I was a regular player contributor, and eventually I was banned for mentioning in the out-of-character area of the game that a certain character was played by a Game-master.

My life has gotten considerably more productive since this happened.

The thing about LOTJ is it just isn't fun if all the goons are on the same team. It's one side or the other being stacked which leads to the stagnation, so something like that doesn't really tend to work.

Get a cargo ship as early as possible. The cargo system in lotj makes it possible to get literally unlimited credits for almost no risk.
