I'm not really up on this thread so this has prolly been posted 20 times, but (even though it pains me to say it) this destructo track: "technology" has been tearing up the clubs and is actually a banger of epic proportions http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=auQkzy9AAkQ This Dumme Jungs track is also loving HUGE, MASSIVE, GIANT, whatever you call it. http://youtu.be/RhSY751FUag and now for some less popular/new tracks. so deep from Steve Mac, track called "Its Ok"...the build on this is wonderful http://youtu.be/xzmDA01q-Hw another great tune: Boris Brejcha - James Bond. groovy, also deep, yum djs listen to this, mixes in and out of almost everything http://youtu.be/TgydvKpc58M this track is just ridiculous Marek Hemmann - Infinity...sounds like the car ride coming home from a show as the sun rises. you really need a massive system to get the most out of it though unfortunately. almost blew up my friends sub. http://youtu.be/NCV9ARTjeSs and then finally, all the rage in germany right now, &me - glaced, just makes beautiful tune after beautiful tune. I can't get this one out of my head. love. e: wowwwwww just listened to this one all the way through again. gonna be a big tune for a while. perfection. http://youtu.be/RYMSakH4VSg straight up brolic fucked around with this message at 01:34 on Dec 21, 2011 |

Having CDJs or Vinyl improve your ability to read a crowd, though, I remember the second night that I saw Boys Noize in LA when he was there for a week. I went to the first and third show and my friend went to all three. The first and second were almost identical apparently. On the third he opened the same way again, but then got on the mic and basically said "i've had a bad day and im in a mood to party so I'm gonna play a new set" and played an entirely different set than any of his that I've ever seen. If you are pressing play on an ableton set list you can't really just throw songs in mid-way through and respond to your personal mood or the vibe of the room. e: Its kind of like stand-up comedy in a way. If you can't incorporate new material into each separate show a lot of people will start getting on your act as "stale", even though its really hard to be smart and funny. Thats why the best comedians have this ability to think on their feet instead of just only reciting these jokes they've practiced forever. Good DJs don't get stale. straight up brolic fucked around with this message at 20:09 on Aug 3, 2012 |

I may be wrong, but aren't Ableton and Traktor dramatically different? I thought Traktor and Serato were virtual DJ programs with your music library (which is fine by me), but Ableton is just building a set with transitions and then playing it with a midi-controller (which im not cool with)?
|
# ¿ Aug 3, 2012 23:55 |
|
Ah my mistake, the perception that I had of "ableton DJ's" was that they just pressed play then hit buttons and turned knobs. I really was not trying to be deliberately obtuse I just appreciate people doing things on the fly, because that's cool and makes these guys out to be more like a friend playing records at a party than some god to be idolized or somethin.
