Is there any particular advantage to buying non-exclusive tracks off of Beatport as opposed to a cheaper alternative like eMusic? Are they higher quality or something?

Iraff posted:I THINK that eMusic does 192 kbps and above, while Beatport does 320 CBR. To most people they're indistinguishable So if you're planning to DJ with tracks, does 192 cut out the sub bass?

Any recommendations? Much obliged! If you like Jogger check out Ratatat. E: And Wolfgang Gartner if you're into Skrillex Chitin fucked around with this message at 16:37 on Jan 21, 2011 |

OniKun posted:Speaking of loud and weird stuff, did anyone else see that Crystal Castles and Crystal Method are playing a show together in San Jose? That feels like a really weird and clashing lineup to me. I'd like to take this opportunity to protest the proliferation of "Crystal" bands. Just scrolling through my iPod I have Crystal Castles, Crystal Fighters, Crystal Method and Crystal Vision. C'mon guys.

K-Flow posted:I've just recently found out the type of house I've liked all these years is called deep house or at least I think. I'm really into the jazz influenced stuff. I like the portion of 3:00 to 4:35 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMWqvYI7VIY and I like a lot of real chill house stuff on gran turismo 5. So could someone correct me if I am wrong in classifying the genre and if not, recommend me some essential deep house music. Thank you! I'm currently in love with Benoit & Sergio - Walk & Talk (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjOoDZ271WE) for deep/tech house. Not sure about jazz influence though...

Ras Het posted:Why would I care about that? It's bad music, and as far as I'm concerned the whole niche's impact on music has been net negative by a huge margin. Because people develop a taste for less-accessible music via more-accessible music. Today's bloghouse fan is tomorrow's deep tech house head.

Ras Het posted:Sure, but something like Justice, Boys Noize or Skritsiksion (cos I see the American dubstep scene as kinda part of the same aesthetic) are only more accessible than most other popular subgenres of EDM if you're a rock 'n' roll kid who thinks every song needs to have something resembling electric guitars. And, I mean, why do you even need that kind of route to dig some classic dance music? If someone tells me they're interested in reggae, I don't make them listen to UB40, Snow and Legend. For my part, I got into techno/house thanks to my friend making me listen to Joey Beltram's Classics comp. And, uhh, that was before 2008, so yeah I can say I heard Gui Boratto before Deadmau5. I'd have a hard time picking which one of them is more boring and awful though, so it's not an elitism ting I don't think. It's ok not to like things. But don't be a dick about the things you don't like.
