I'm looking for some dark, driving, mechanical techno/tech house, somewhat like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTvlViKxOjo I'm not fond of Sven talking, but the drums and bass on this one are close to what I'm after.

Part of me wants to like it, the other part thinks it's cheesy and inappropriate. How is Trentemoller live these days? I really like his tech house productions but I have slight worries that I might get a lil bored for my 30 cad when it's going to be all like Late Night Tales stuff. Any Montreal electrogoons reading/posting in this thread?

Got a ticket to Luciano & Carl Craig on the 28th of October and registered for the thing on the 6th. Amon Tobin sounds fun too, I'll see if I can manage to go. Dubstep isn't really my thing but for 10$ I might consider it. I have been here only for a month and not been clubbing yet, what are decent places to go, how prevalent are drugs and what's the best source for event info?

Am I wrong or was there a techno thread once? Anyways, have some music: Cosmic Cowboys have been some of my favourite deep house artists these past two years: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCmT-KaehPc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GqhKGwiCiho Also, pretty stoked to see these guys live in January: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GpyuXwIM0g Essential mix of the year: https://soundcloud.com/everybodywantstobethedj/dixon-essential-mix-2013-09-14

I like that bass. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jH0H76f4sc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkSSnaHmj1M Going to see this guy tonight, gonna be good. Solvency: No need to be embarrassed, this thread can be snobby but just enjoy what you enjoy. As for finding new stuff, the best way is probably reading blogs, but I can't give good recommendations as I don't really listen to the stuff you posted. In general though, I enjoy EDM most when it's mixed in a set by a competent DJ. A good place to start is the BBC's Essential Mix, a weekly radio show where you get up to 2 hours of music mixed by the world's most famous DJs from a wide variety of backgrounds. You can just look for mixes by artists you enjoy, they are usually available on soundcloud and often downloadable. Essential mixes are always posted with tracklists, so you can just go after a certain artist whose track you enjoyed in the mix. Maybe you like this one by Feed Me: https://soundcloud.com/feedme/feed-me-bbc-radio-1-essential Another good idea is to like some artists and labels on facebook and or youtube. The artists you mention release stuff on maustrap and ultra for instance, which probably a few of the posters in this thread... are not too fond of.

Ugh, I've got this sample stuck in my head and I can't remember the track for the life of me... The line I remember goes "through all my trials and tribulations, through all my", spoken by a deep male voice similar to the one on this track, similar effects on the voice, too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ia906iynI-U The track is pretty nice as well. Finally saw Sven Väth on the weekend. I don't really follow him as an artist at all, but he's just this huge icon or perhaps rather brand... enjoyable set, but nothing crazy. Loco Dice afterwards was
