I got some fresh heavy disco house from Pablo J, a massive house DJ I somehow knew nothing about, vs Charlie (Phantom's Revenge) by Go Go Bizkitt! on Just for you vol 4. Take Your Love is a monster jam and Charlie fine as always. And Sonic.

Phantom's doesn't use a lot of synth basses.. but Pablo J does. This is definitely a jam.

Also, check out their work on a TPR track:

I've been dying to know what it was and I've never heard Pablo J. Your house fu is indeed strong.

Bestrack just put out a new free EP "Workout 2000" and it is as expected. 80s synth/electro on more than the normal amount of cocaine.

Bestrack - Burn The Night

Bestrack - Stamina

You gotta like him on facebook to get the goods.

There's a lot of groups out there putting out stuff like this, and I like it in theory, but - and there are a few exceptions - it just never seems to evolve out of that amateurish feel (the lyric treatment in particular). It makes me sad because this could sound a whole lot better in more professional hands.

You mean like Kavinksy?

Kavinsky - Pacific Coast Highway

Bestrack's an 80s vibe of french touch. While I think the samples are how they're supposed to be I also think the genre as a whole is expanding in the way that you mean. Pablo J & the Lobsterettes in particular are to me the best right now. They/he/she have taken french house to a new high. I dunno maybe we're talking about different things. Either way it is time for Pablo now.

I love PJL, but I can't help but feel like some of the tracks are straight rips of The Phantom's Revenge's style.

The first time I heard PJL was Take Your Love on a GoGoBizkitt mix and I was positive it was a new Phantom track. Thing is I thought it was the best thing he had ever done. They do sound very similar but I think Pablo takes the style further. Of course Phantom is a legend forever and to be honest I never thought I would find anyone better. I think Pablo J is just more refined. The Phantom's Revenge stuff is always chopped and sliced all to hell and I love it but sometimes I just want to hear that golden sample in one piece.

I don't know how the gently caress I missed this guy. Other than ignoring my reader because 1000+ posts is less than exciting.

Five months ago FKJ (French Kiwi Juice) put out a mean rear end track called So Much To Me. The production is so sexy and precise. I'm a sucker for warped vocal samples and he definitely delivers the goods here.

FKJ - So Much To Me

Just a couple weeks ago he put out what may be my favorite EP this year. The Time For A Change EP is nothing short of splendiferous on all fronts. It's the best of the chilled house I've heard in a long time. I'm actually gitty over this poo poo. I recommend this EP to anyone who likes anything.

FKJ - Instant Need

FKJ - Unchained

FKJ - Between Moods

Another competitor for favorite this year is the Family Function EP by MyCousinVinny and Daims.

MyCousinVinny & Daims - SueWho

MyCousinVinny & Daims - My Body

I love me some Big Dope P. Don't know of anyone else that mixes the french sound with club so well. No surprise I dig the new EP.

Speaking of Tagteam I really liked TPR's random "Hidden Nonsense" on their Kimble EP. Actual remix is rowdy as per usual.

Tagteam Terror - You Only (The Phantom's Revenge Hidden Nonsense)

gently caress yes new TPR. And, I was worried he'd be stuck in a certain sound. He's getting close to Big Dope P status IMO.

Older not-dubstep Skream I like

One of the best tracks of the year I say

So is this basically a PYF thread that wound up in NMD? I can't figure out if there's any actual discussion.

Here's something, does anyone else think the rise of Big Room House is going to lead to an Acid revival? It seems to be kind of pointing that way, a lot of bigger artists have been making some 303-heavy tracks for a while but Big Room's influence has seen Fatboy Slim back in the charts again for the first time in a long time.

I'm still waiting on disco/funk house in the States because Daft Punk couldn't just make Discovery again.

Jaw Jam is someone I consider to be quite underrated at this time. He doesn't venture too far from his signature sound and I don't mind that one bit. A handful of his bootlegs are begging for Symbols or someone similar but as far as I can tell he's not been picked up. Future RnB(not jersey club) is a term that seems to follow him. He got a shout out from the Phantom not too long ago via twitter and Sweater Beats dropped him in his Diplo & Friends mix a while back. I expect we'll hear a lot more from him in the future.

Jaw Jam - Tha One I See In My Fantasies When I'm Dreaming (Mix II)

Jaw Jam - Wifey (U Are So Beautiful)

Keyshia Cole - Love (Jaw Jam Real Luv Bootleg)

Speaking of Symbols I quite liked the latest EP from Vindata. Favorites being both versions of Bad Dreams.

I came across Super Drug for the first time a few weeks ago thinking it was a new artist, but his soundcloud goes back three loving years! He's sitting right under 600 followers somehow. The bio is kinda tough to make sense of but it says he's from Croatia and has been djing/producing since 1995. For me it is simply good filter funk/disco house music at my kinda speed. There aren't a lot of vocals in his stuff but he manages to find a good enough groove to go without I think.

Super Drug - Swing

Super Drug - Bangin Friday
