This is insane! I know people have said this before, but whoa!

Anyway, Prototyperaptor has a new EP out on beatport called Rapid Vivialdi, it's electro house and very high quality. I recommend checking it out, at the very least.

Pretty cool minimal stuff. I'm not really into minimal house that much, my favourite would have to be Dreamcatcher by DJ Josh Blackwell & DJ Miss Babayaga, but aside from that, I get fuzzy on individual tracks. In more production related news, among other things, I'm working on a complextro track right now. It's nowhere near completed, though.

Anyone in here into complextro? I searched back 20 pages but I can't find anything more than a passing reference. Some of my personal favourites in the genre Porter Robinson, Uppermost, Ryan Enzed, Zedd, Darth and Vader, Spencer & Hill. If you don't know what complextro is, it's basically like electro house filled to the brim with synth stabs. Multiple instruments with different sounds and a common bassline, basically. It's at a house tempo, and commonly has progressive style buildups. It's often mixed up with dubstep(probably because many complextro producers also produce dubstep?) and a pretty cool subgenre.

Some examples for those curious:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXJIMrsO6yc Darth And Vader - Return of the Jedi

That's what they're calling it. It's not the best of names, but I'd rather say a stupid name and be accurate than just stare blankly and try to come up with some bizarre long-winded explanation for what it's called.

Apologize but my point still stands. Is Ghosts N Stuff a trance song or did the makers of this mediocre trance compilation just throw it in there for the hell of it. (the version on the CD is actually the long version without vocals)

Also another question. In the OP Daft Punk is mentioned as the most "known" example of House Music. It seems to me quite a few Daft Punk songs are pretty experimental or just straight up aren't house at all, is this the case with most house artists?

Ghosts N Stuff is electro house, whoever put the trance compilation together is obviously trying to get a mainstream song on there to pander to people who have very little knowledge in trance(edited because I'm a moron). The "long version without vocals" by the way is referred to as the original mix about 95% of the time. Electronic music evolves constantly, and house music is a pretty big umbrella term for music, so there are plenty of different styles of house music and so many subgenres that you can't pinpoint an exact sound. Daft Punk is basically considered one of the groups responsible for popularizing French house, for example, listen to "Around the World" if you think that most of their stuff isn't house.

4x4=12 is one of deadmau5's worst, though

It depends on which tracks in 4x4=12 you liked especially, because the album is a bit schizophrenic in sound(see: Raise Your Weapon vs Right This Second). Wolfgang Gartner is one of the most logical step "forward" from deadmau5 I can think of, though.

But yeah, experimental stuff is good to have maybe 1 in an album for, or a free release on the internet or something, but when 4x4=12 is like a hodgepodge of whatever random poo poo deadmau5 can think of with no logic to what goes in the album it feels like it was put together to satisfy an exec or get cash. Which makes sense, because that's exactly what it was. Here's hoping deadmau5's "artist album" will do a lot better.
