slackerish, every post you make in this thread makes you look worse and worse. you come across as a teen who's way too confident about his take on music. if you learn to be more receptive and willing to admit that you don't really know as much as your aggressive, 'i-give-no-gently caress' posts may indicate, i guarantee that you will be a better person/audiophile because of it. just fyi

Mr Viper posted:I've met a lot of crazy Venice people in their thirties that are pretty cracked out and still try to put on shows like they went to in the 90's. It's the same group of people that go to the burning man festival... what part of this is confusing? burning man attracts a much more diverse audience than that. it's not just a bunch of venice beach crazies trying to relive their high times. and like etard said, your "if you've ever heard of burning man" comment was pretty funny Vernacular fucked around with this message at 22:52 on Mar 17, 2010 |

Mr Viper posted:that's like saying HARD shows attract a much more diverse audience than 18 year old white kids rolling balls. It's a generalization, but it's mostly true my point was that your equation of burners to old folks tryin to relive an antiquated niche rave scene was a weird one

Dono posted:A lot of you are missing the point here (I'll exclude Threatis because...well you know). The Sweedish House Mafia track may not be spectacular to your taste and while I hope it does get a better tuned remix, this is an amazing track for a well tuned progressive house mix. The biggest thing to understand is that the track just might not be exactly what you want to hear. threatis brought up the biggest problem with the track though, which is that its 7 minutes of the same riff with little variation. its catchy enough, but you're out of your mind if you think it needs to be played in its entirety in any context. mix out of it after a few minutes if you're gonna play it in a set

^^^ my rule of thumb for MSTRKRFT shows is to get as hosed up as JFK, because he loving butchers effects/transitions when he's tanked. you might want to save your money if there's anybody better coming in the next month incoherent posted:Yeah I was so there. It was pretty much what they said they were going to do (more like belvedere, less like hustler) and I was dancing all night. yes love search was great! i'm glad i caught their set. as far as the whole DJ sets vs live sets argument goes...different kind of night/vibes/performance. they each have their own sets of pros and cons. chances are whoever it is has been DJing as long as (if not longer than) they've been doing live shows so it'll be a good time either way (unless, like manoli said, it's a ladytron DJ set, which i've had a dozen people tell me is the worst thing they've ever heard. i've also been told that hot chip DJ sets are mediocre, though take that with a grain of salt) regarding simian's live set. i've been to 3, and they've been getting worse and worse. i also don't think that light setup is too much to write home about. the DJ set was a refreshing change of pace Vernacular fucked around with this message at 00:04 on Jun 5, 2010 |

II/get innocuous renditions to put on a great show. in addition to we love animals, another excuse, e talking, miserable girl, and that 'discotheque theme' track they did as samantha fu, i'm pretty sure they played all new material, including a hot-as-gently caress 10+ minute disco jam-out at the end. best set of the night http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lD00DfxweIc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Y5-Yp8Jouc (LOVE that new song after e-talking) the twelves, flying lotus, erol alkan and tiga smashed it as well, and the LA state historic park was a perfect venue. i'll post some pictures when i get home
