I'm quite new to house/electro so I don't know many artists but I really like Mord Fustang. Would anyone mind giving me some recommendations?

Blowdryer posted:I haven't listened to Mord Fustang, but I just listened to his song The Electric Dream. This is a better example of what I'm looking for http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGgBWghFgZQ&feature=related I like how it's slightly glitchy and kinda eclectic, but still has that dancey house feel. Wolfgang Gartner is pretty cool, I've heard of him before. I'll check out Madeon.

While track selection and a good mixing job is THE backbone to a DJ's set, I disagree with the sentiment that it should be the only expectation out of a live show. There are plenty of people who are there to see the actual DJ's performance as well as to dance and have a great time. There's plenty of downtime between selecting the next track and mixing it in - A DJ should be doing SOMETHING to enhance the experience in between track switches, even if it's just clever use of cross-fading.

Anonymous John posted:Anybody in the Northeast hitting up the Winter White Tour next month? Each stop has different lineups with an all-white attire (although I doubt it'll be enforced). I'm personally going to the UNH stop with Guetta, Alesso, and R3hab. I saw Mord Fustang at a Throwed show at the Middle East in Cambridge. Mord killed it and you could tell that Throwed made sure he had a hyped up audience, but man most of the kids there were wearing those "Let's Rage!" shirts and I can't tell you how many times I heard "Who's pushing me?". I was in the very front... The entire crowd is pushing you girl.

Thoogsby posted:Mord is amazing. He isn't quite under the radar but I think he deserves more credit than he gets. He's definitely the best producer in his particular sub-genre. I follow him on Twitter and he's hinted a few times that he's working on a new EP. I just saw Mord on valentine's day and he played a bunch of new songs. New EP is definitely coming out soon. Mord Fustang is seriously my biggest influence right now. I have no idea how he manages to pack as many instruments and sounds into his songs as he does and still have it sound crisp and clear.

Not exactly in the same vein, but if you like your house to be as funky and groovy as possible, you need to listen to Long Beach City Kids. Tell me this song doesn't get your head bobbing, and I'll point you in the direction of the nearest ear doctor: http://soundcloud.com/lbck/keep-the-change-free

New Mord Fustang EP is out. I don't think it's quite as good as his first but still very worth checking out.

I didn't know moombahcore could sound so happy and joyful and be so good at the same time. Usually it's a genre filled with garbage but this is a keeper for sure: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZDiYDcF4yo

James Egbert has been making some serious moves lately. His new EP is coming out on the 30th and his production sounds AMAZING. If anyone in this thread likes Mord Fustang or are fans of complextro then you should really check out this preview. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2YqZllAC57U And if you enjoyed that he released the first track from the preview on soundcloud: http://soundcloud.com/jamesegbert/james-egbert-in-the-beginning

JAK3, the worst crime in music is to be boring, and that's exactly what your song is. Spend a little more time writing an engaging and memorable melody and maybe you wont have to try so hard to get recognition.
