Some time around the Mohammed cartoon controversy, there was a demonstration of muslims in the UK at a street corner that had a grey, multi-story building at a 3-corner (or more) intersection.

The demonstration was very noisy and raucous. It was on Fox at least twice.

At one point, a man in a white robe and crocheted skull cap, with a shortish, dark beard, 5’9” or thereabouts, early 30s, walked up to the camera and said something, followed with, “You’ll see. We’re going to turn the White House Black! You’ll see, we’re going to...” at which point someone off camera must have said something to him. He shut himself up in mid-thought, turned abruptly and walked back to the demonstration.

That was on Fox at least 2 times. Shep Smith was incredulous but unnerved.

There was something in the tone and delivery that man made that left me with a sensation that he KNEW something.

I cannot find that video now and haven’t been able to since that time.’

i've had no trouble reading crazy poo poo or watching crazy speakers but watching interactions like that make me absolutely loving sick and depressed. i'd just be baffled and a bit disgusted had i seen this before i started reading freerepublic and conservative cartoons but seeing how far it has gotten and knowing the extent of that mindset is just so upsetting. they don't know what on what they agree and know, and they couldn't explain it. all they know is there's something they're supposed to know, it's bad, and they, like much of the american right, are becoming increasingly afraid and hate-filled and they don't even know why

there are plenty of tangible reasons to be afraid and upset and they aren't concerned with any of them and instead latch onto intangible and purposefully vague buzzwords and it's really making this country into a bunch of reactionary monsters
