Protection from freak of nature events (i.e. it's discovered that Teslas give you cancer), and the collateral you need for straight puts is way higher than a spread where you just need enough to cover the difference in price for 100 shares of two very close strikes, minus the premium you collected

Probably a good deal of the counterparties to our positions are buying those crazy puts from us for the flip reason though, protecting their long positions from freak events.

I'm actually kinda eyeballing the augusts now, they are selling for $35.

It's possible but they're also getting paid from those thousands of freaks who are buying stuff like $3000 7/17 calls for pennies for no reason. The fringe gambling idiots pay the call holders, and the call holders pay us to insure their position. We're basically like bookies.

Cheaper than powerball tickets and probably more likely to be worth something at some point.

Perfection is our nature. When we cease to inhibit it, it will be so.

This is so epic. I hope my portfolio isn't dragged down too far when QQQ falls 30%. I guess it's more likely that central banks will continue propping up asset prices though.

I am not pleased.

Haha gently caress I finally made the mistake of buying options when I meant to sell them. Had been eyeing this position and messing with the order, cancelled it and then came back and was like screw it lets do it, and clicked on the ask instead of the bid in powertrade.

I sold OTM SPY and AMD calls this morning, ended up buying them back a few minutes ago to just close them out for a profit early. Shrug.

Now THAT is a slow motion rug pull right there. Wild how it seems like everyone in the tech sector was taking profits at exactly the same time. My $55/$56 AMD Call Credit Spread is somehow profitable though? I guess the value of the put I bought has outsold the value of the put I sold, weird.

I need NIO to get back over $15 to collect the premium. I guess we'll just see what happens tomorrow.
