What do people think of XOM? Good, reliable stock? It went down to 70 and I grabbed some, but I can't figure out when is a good time to sell. i.e. since it's up to 86-7 right now...

Long-term vs short-term capital gains...if I bought a position in August, and it's gone up a decent amount, I...want to wait until August to sell, so that I don't get hit with short-term cap gain tax? Unless I think it's going to go back down ~10% of my gain before then? Just trying to figure out how to be a rich person. I'm not very good at it!

Thought so. Yeah, Harry, I know, but let's say on the order of 100k a year salary, for two people, so still better to wait.

I mean, if you want to gamble, you can just go to a casino and put it all on black (red) ((double zero)).

dogpower posted:http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-03-12/-candy-crush-maker-king-prices-ipo-at-as-much-as-24-a-share.html It's an app game that has an insidious paywall that snaps in when you get too high. Essentially, you start playing, it's fun, you hit levels that are harder but still fun, and then gradually it feels more like "okay, I need a good start to win this" and then, well, "I need a perfect start to win this". And then the game flashes "Hey, you could be using this awesome powerup only three dollars for five c'mon give us money" over and over until you give in. Thankfully I just stopped at that point, but a *lot* of people pay money for that.
