The song's lyrics tell a story about a man who lives in a "blue world." It is also explained he is "blue inside and outside," which, alongside the lyric "himself and everybody around 'cause he ain't got nobody to listen," and "blue are the feelings that live inside me" may indicate that the term blue represents his emotional state; however, the song also explains that a vast variety of what he owns is also blue, including his house and his car ("a blue Corvette"): different blue-coloured objects are also depicted on the single's cover.[12] The song's hook is the sentence "I'm blue," followed by a repetition of the sounds "da ba dee da ba daa", which the hook is based around.

Lutha Mahtin posted:i should mention, that's from the article about Xu Xiaodong, a fighter in china who goes around challenging kung fu hucksters. a self proclaimed "master" says they can defeat 300 challengers with their wushu mind powers, this guy calls them out, then they get in the ring and it's 30 seconds of a 40 year old MMA guy wailing on a 70 year old snake oil grifter Ok but see I've done some years of kung fu, and I've also seen a few of the videos in question, and the MMA guy was constantly leaving himself open to attack and the kung fu guy was constantly just doing absolutely loving nothing. He missed like a dozen takedowns, maybe like 20+ points where the guy just left himself completely open. Every single punch the MMA guy threw was off-balance and could have been turned into an arm lock or a takedown. The kung fu guy had multiple opportunities to break the guy's arm or just do a takedown and slap him on the temples hard and that would very literally be the end of his career. I have absolutely no doubt that the entire thing was rigged because I have no idea how anyone who had done any amount of kung fu could be that incompetent. What's funny is that a lot of MMA relies on you getting on the floor with your opponent and grappling them. If this is outside a bar and his buddies decide to come out they could just kick your head in while you're preoccupied and that would be the end of it. And because it's hyper-focused on attack it just means you just get charged for assault. Compare with gong fu where you're never supposed to get down on the floor with your opponent (because it's rightfully treated as a terrible, bad thing to do), and it gives you the skills to just endlessly shift your opponent around with barely any work and just tire the person out with very little injury, while still being able to take things further if it becomes a life-or-death type thing. But MMA is cool because beating the poo poo outta people is cool, I guess.

Jabor posted:MMA is the way it is because it's hyperfocused on a 1v1 in the ring scenario, and it's hyperfocused on that because that's the only situation in which you're ever gonna use it. Literally the whole point of "mixed martial arts" is to do whatever it takes to win in the octagon rather than focusing on one particular school or theory. Right, but everyone I know who is into MMA has touted it as "better than all other fighting styles" when not only is that a blatant lie (Like I said, I've yet to see a fighting video that didn't look rigged as hell), but one that doesn't take into account the fact that 90%+ of people actually taking these fighting classes are never going to use it in the situation that MMA is designed for, and are probably just generally doing it recreationally or to feel more secure in themselves. But my guess is the same people that approach it are the ones who used to get into kickboxing and karate back in the day just so they could hold it over other people as some weird kind of threat.

As the cock was made of solid gold, the United States Treasury seized it on the grounds that it was illegal under the Gold Reserve Act of 1934 which prohibited private ownership of more than 50 oz (1,400 g) of gold in the United States.[2] [...] The cock was then held in a federal bank vault until the case was heard as the judge refused to grant bail to it.[8] Whilst the golden cock was in federal custody, Graves responded to the denial of release by placing a bronze copy of the cock dressed in a striped prison uniform in his casino in the meantime.[3]
