Kevorkian

http://documentarystorm.com/biography/kevorkian/

Dr. Jack Kevorkian is most known for being the doctor involved in at least 130 assisted suicides. The controversy surrounding his practice was huge in the ’90′s and resulted in a prison sentence for the doctor. He was released in 2007 and has since run for congress.

Kevorkian follows the doctor’s life post-incarceration and will give a look at his mindset since serving time for acts that some would argue are merciful, while others would brand as murder.

- There is more to his life than death.

My final in Ethics in college was an essay on Doctor Kevorkian. I entered into the assignment completely unsure if I agreed with his philosophy or not, it just seemed like a good bullshit thing to do a college paper on. However, the more I did my required research the more research I did on him out of my own pure interest. In the end I changed my mind - Doctor Kevorkian is a saint and a genius and a worthy role-model, not just some dude trying to get away with murder. He was crucified because of religion/ignorance. He has a wonderful mind.

The Botany of Desire
http://www.pbs.org/thebotanyofdesire/

It is a documentary featuring one of my favorite writers (Michael Pollan). In a nutshell it is about how plants have shaped human history. However, there is quite a bit of interesting ideas to unpack in this movie.
