My Impreza hatch is currently the largest vehicle I've owned, but I did really like the Trailblazer a friend of mine used to have. A check on Kijiji shows that they are also dirt cheap, hmm.

I've driven many hours in my 04 Impreza, and many hours in my wife's '10 Prius. My seats are comfortable, hers are hard and flat and not good for long trips. Probably tactical on Toyota's part since it gets better mileage at city speeds anyway.

Automakers should treat infotainment like computers, where you buy a prebuilt (in the form of a car with an infotainment system), wipe it, and install a blank OS you can then customize. Instead it's slow, unhelpful bullshit that's inexplicably networked to everything else. Automakers that abandon the DIN standard in favour of their hideous bloated proprietary system are the WORST, since you can't even upgrade it at all when new media standards are released.

Dollar gains decrease as fuel economy goes up, which is why it's such a big deal for heavy trucks to gain 0.5mpg (also they drive hundreds of thousands of miles per year). Doesn't stop the auto companies from 1mpg dickwaving though.

All I want is a car that's good and won't start rusting before its first drivetrain reaches end of life, even with undercoating. I know there are aluminium body Fords but what the hell is it gonna be like trying to remove steel fasteners from aluminium in a few years, won't galvanic corrosion ruin the longevity of all these vehicles' ability to be maintained long term? How many subframe bolts will never come out, how many mounts and brackets and other important little bits will have their fasteners snap instead of back out?

Anyone build a remote start that just cuts the engine/start attempt if a wheel speed sensor detects movement and the key is not in the ignition (or in car if proximity key/push button start)?

What is the point of rear windows that are drat near horizontal? From the driver's perspective you have this vertically narrow little slit you can barely see out of, and it turns the back half (and with the windshield, now both halves) into a stupid fishbowl greenhouse volcanic wasteland until you have the A/C running for a while. I really hate that design trend and wish it would stop.

Autoblog has first drive impressions and stats for the new Crosstrek (plug-in) Hybrid. 8.8kWh battery and hybrid system from the Prius Prime, with the 2.0l Boxer (presumably the FA20). 17 miles/27km of all-electric range, which is pretty piddly, but it's still full-time AWD with or without the engine running. 90 MPGe or 35 MPG with just the gas engine. Not huge numbers but still a cool offering, if it sells (which it won't, since you can only get it in California, Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island and Vermont). No mention of Canada in this article. edit: link https://www.autoblog.com/2018/11/19/subaru-crosstrek-hybrid-phev-review/
