Everyone always overlooks the 737-600.
I just enjoy how it has the stubby little fuselage but the regular 737NG wings, so they look like they've got a glider's aspect ratio on that body.

Per Wikipedia, there were 187 production F-22s built. I'm guessing that even after allowing for the various crashes and hurricanes, there still ought to be upwards of 100 flying, at least when they're not down for polishing the stealth or however the maintenance procedures work.

It’s so good to know that the professionals feel the same distaste for the CRJ-200 that I do. Most of my travel up through college was flying out of Albuquerque, and if it wasn’t somewhere Southwest flew, I had altogether too high a chance of spending some quality time in the back of a CRJ-200 en route to Denver, Phoenix, or Salt Lake (whose regional jet terminal remains my mental picture of Hell).

The fact that the window belt never got moved when the floor did during the conversion from the biz jet still amazes me. How do you not figure that one out?

Plus, if you’re trying to find a U-boat for a fuel stop, homing on a beacon was standard practice for other U-boats. That’s one of the ways wolfpacks were supposed to assemble around convoys - and, of course, one of the ways convoy escorts knew where the U-boats were congregating. I don’t think navigation would have been the major hangup for that Amerika bomber plan. I suspect the ability to land, refuel, and take off from open ocean would have been more trouble. U-boats sometimes couldn’t refuel from each other due to weather (and would occasionally just run out of fuel and drift for a few days until a fueler could find them and paddle a hose over), and that’s without the added issue of getting a large aircraft down safely.

I was intrigued to notice there doesn't appear to be a passenger entry door on it. None of the volunteers who were there had noticed that or could explain it. I guess they just used the big cargo hatch thing on the main deck as an entrance for the crew too?

Is that basically just to make sure your field of view is roughly where the designers expected it to be so you don't misjudge where the rest of the plane is relative to you? I'm assuming the operating principle is just "make sure you can see all the bits of the little ball-and-peg thing", right?
