I thought the whole point of the B-17 was to fit as many 50 cals as possible on a plane, but it looks pretty smooth if you remove the guns and add an extra engine

Aeronautical insanity feautring a reincarnation of Canada's greatest tragedy/pride

Not sure who these guys are, but they have at least one CGI model of their Super Arrow and some major plans for it.

quote:

"That famous and secret branch designed and built the SR-71 Blackbird in 18 months. I touched on that with Beaverworks to assert that we as Canadians can, if we choose, to build the Super Arrow prototype, in the same time period.

This aircraft is the result of a fusion between the Avro Arrow and the designs for the YF-23 built by Northrop, F-35, F-22, CF-18, B-1 Lancer and B-2. The Super Arrow is a large bird. She has a 17m wing span and is designed for a multi-role platform. She is an interceptor first, fighter/bomber second and is also designed for close air support for our troops on the ground.

We are working on sourcing our logistics and supply chains to produce a realistic proposal to submit if requested. We envision that any realistic proposal would be submitted on or after January 1, 2017.

This idea guy has a pretty picture and multi-role covered, but no stealth?!

This story has everything; aeronautical insanity, a rude man in a Tomcat and mentions of the Crusader.

Look at the picture above.

It’s a 8” x 10” frame of a 16 mm gun film shot which shows an F-15 Eagle locked through an F-14 Tomcat Head Up Display, at 250 feet, with piper on the Eagle’s pilot, gun selected, master arm on.

The story of a legendary F-14 pilot and the gun kill on an F-15 that could sell Tomcats to Japan

Have some captured Nazi planes on display in Moscow in 1943 as well

They pretty much got a hold everything. There's even more 109s behind the trees. Possibly a Stuka infront of the Ju-52 in the back.
The He-111 is surprisingly small and the Fw 200 is surprisingly big (and good looking).

Here's a summary at least: http://www.theguardian.com/world/live/2015/mar/26/germanwings-plane-crash-investigation-press-conference-live-updates-4u9525

quote:

-The co-pilot of the Germanwings jet that crashed in the French Alps deliberately forced the plane into the descent that led to the disaster, the prosecutor said. He pressed a button that accelerated the Airbus A320’s descent when alone in the cockpit. “It was a voluntary action,” Robin said.
-The co-pilot – named by the prosecutor as Andreas Lubitz, 28, a German citizen – was alone because the pilot had gone to the toilet. When he returned, the co-pilot refused to open the door. “The intention was to destroy this plane,” he said.
-Lubitz was breathing normally at the point of impact, the prosecutor reveals. He said nothing during the final descent, which lasted about 10 minutes. “Absolute silence inside the cockpit. Nothing, no word during the last 10 minutes.”
-There was no indication that Lubitz’s actions amounted to terrorism, Robin said. But he stopped short of declaring it suicide, saying only that was a “legitimate” question to ask.
-Cries could be heard just before the impact, the prosecutor said. “The death would have been sudden, immediate.”
-Air traffic controllers attempted to contract the plane in the last few minutes before the crash but received no reply from the cockpit.
-Robin said he had briefed the families of the dead.

Looks like the pilot may have done more than just knock on the door.

quote:

The cockpit flight recorder showed that the pilot repeatedly knocked and tried to get back in as the plane went into its fatal descent, French prosecutors said.

However, Bild reported that he also tried using an axe to break down the cockpit's armoured door.
