Is Night better or worse than Tick Tock? That's all I've heard by them so far and I enjoyed it quite a bit.

I've really been digging Area's Crac! album lately, but I haven't been able to get into their other stuff.

A couple reviews point out that this is the band's most accessible album, so what are some other bands that are similar to the Crac! album? I really like the melodies with funk and jazz bits breaking in and I love the singer going nuts all over the place.

Crac! is my favourite album by them but they do have a lot of good material.

Try Arbeit Macht Frei next. It's got a lot more of what you're looking for from them.

1978 Gli Dei Se Ne Vanno, Gli Arrabbiati Restano! is right up there as well.

For some reason most people I know started off with Caution Radiation Area which is good but not really as interesting as the others.

The first half of Maledetti is also pretty good, but I could never get into the rest.

I'm not sure if I've heard their other two albums without Demetrio because his voice is about half the reason I kept coming back to Area, but I should probably track those down and have a listen.

Awesome, those first two are nice.

I love when Demetrio does speaking/whispering parts. They're just so cool and work so well

And yeah, I've got Maledetti, but I only like one or two tracks on there. I'll probably give it another go at some point, though.

He's something else. After hearing Area I went on a bit of an Italian prog binge but haven't been able to find anything like them.

What albums got you into Gentle Giant? A friend of mine keeps telling me to listen to them but I wasn't really impressed after hearing In a Glass House.

If this results in any kind of tour I will be ecstatic.

Are the reissues that noticeable of a difference? I might have to pick them up.

Is there any new news on JFC and A Scarcity of Miracles? I think it's supposed to come out in May

Anyone else have a listen to A Scarcity of Miracles? I've had a few listens now and I really enjoy the first half of the album, the title track and The Price we Pay being my favourite so far, but I'm not too into the last few songs.

In other news apparently there's a new live King Crimson album coming out soon http://www.progarchives.com/forum/f...ID=78800&FID=19

I just picked up To Shatter all Accord by Discipline and it's probably my new favourite album of 2011. Something about it reminds me of Gazpacho at some points, but all around a wonderful album to listen to.

Has anyone listened to their previous two albums? I had never heard of them before this album but it seems like they've been on a 15 year or so hiatus.

Recently I've found myself listening to their live albums more than anything else. USA, Absent Lovers, The Great Deceiver, there's something about their live albums that I don't get from other bands.

My favorite Crimson release since the post-ProjeKct days is actually the live album Level Five. It's barely even album-length, but the track selection is so good. Dangerous Curves and Level Five are paired here in a very Talking Drum/LTiA part II sort of way, and it works so much better than what they ended up doing on The Power to Believe. Plus you get a good performance of the still-unfinished Power to Believe part 2 (Virtuous Circle), Deception of the Thrush, and an absolutely loving amazing performance of The ConstruKction of Light so flawless it's hard to believe it's actually live. I never realized how great this track was until I heard this performance—it's now one of my favorite Crimson songs, bizarrely terrible lyrics and all.

I'm a big fan of TCoL so now I'll have to pick up Level Five along with some of the re-issues.

Anyone heard the Fripp albums with Eno? I've been meaning to check them out since we've started talking about ambient and Eno a bit in one of my music classes.

No Pussyfooting is an album I go back to every now and again but I never thought it was anything particularly special.

Latest news from the Dream Theater website:

quote:

Joining DREAM THEATER, starting June 16 in Columbus, Ohio and for the rest of the tour, is special guest Crimson Projekct featuring Adrian Belew, Tony Levin, Pat Mastelotto, Markus Reuter, Julie Slick and Tobias Ralph. They’ll be performing the songs of progressive rock legends King Crimson.

Looks like I might have to make a trip to the states this summer.

It's been the same drummer since it started, and he collaborates with different bassists every few records.

I saw the Ruins Alone tour last year and it was a really good show. Wish Koenjihyakkei was touring through...

I've tried Magma a few times in the past but never really got into it like I do with Area. Which album of theirs do you think is most like what I'm after?

I've been listening to the new Leprous and Motorpsycho a lot recently. Can't get enough of Coal for some reason

No idea when tickets are going on sale, but I'm going to keep a close eye on it. I had tickets to their Toronto show a year ago, but I caught a nasty case of shingles and had to give them to someone at work.

Looks like Toronto tickets are on sale this coming Friday. I'll be there shingles or not

They're implying they're up for a tour if someone wants to kick them $8500 (check the top reward tier). If I had $8500 in savings I'm not gonna lie there's a good chance I'd blow it on making a tour happen because I'm dying to see this band.

I saw the Ruins Alone tour and it was something else. Would love to see the full band.

Just curious, where did you hear about the kickstarter?
