You should put these in the op
http://kentie.net/article/dxguide/index.htm This fixes problems with the game (switching weapons not working right at times, scales the UI to your resolution, etc)
http://kentie.net/article/d3d10drv/index.htm and this is really nice if you have a dx10 card, allows you to turn on aa and such and just make the game look nicer overall

So, is this game good good, or is this the kind of "good" reserved for the likes of fallout games and system shock,
the kind where you have to stick seven pairs of rose-colored glasses up your rear end before even attempting the first area?

I beat it for the first time last year and just replayed it a few weeks ago, it's as good as people say

Not only that, but there's an NPC in Versalife who mentions it.

Yeah that's when I first noticed it a few weeks ago

I installed Deus Ex again, and ran in a few technical issues.
Deus Ex does not like DEP, but that's easily fixed with an exclusion. My bigger annoyance is that I can't get the D3D10 renderer working.
"Can't initialize Direct3D device" SCREW YOU!

For some reason my sound was also distorted the first few times I launched it but it seems to have fixed itself. God knows how.

Do you have a system that can do DirectX10? Like Vista and an 8800 or better? If so could you look at the log file and email the author of it

By the way, I'm not sure anyone brought this up, but i loved the UNATCO HQ sections, I honestly can't think of a game that did something similar. Maybe Splinter Cell: Double Agent, but they did it badly.

Yeah I liked the HQ a lot too, Double Agent did everything badly

I`m getting this when trying to use the dx10 renderer on win7 64. I have dx11 installed on the computer, is it not backwards compatable or do I just have to shove a dll in the deusex/system dir?

Also, is the any way to stop the UAC prompt when I run the game?
This isn`t the steam version.

I got this error when I tried to run the game. :(

Try updating DirectX, even if you have DX10 there's still updates to it

The guy that made the dx10 renderer and fixer tool would like people to test an experimental replacement exe that fixes problems at the root http://kentie.net/article/deusexe/index.htm might solve issues for people

So really the best way to play currently is New Vision + Shifter + Biomod, correct? Or is there another mod out there that's worth throwing in?

I think it's best vanilla, save for the dx10 renderer, bug fixer and maybe new vision

Try http://kentie.net/article/deusexe/index.htm

I was having similar issues but that seemed to fix it.

I'd also like to say this works replacing the steam exe too, I did it

I just installed the HD texture pack for IW, and now the game freezes after a few seconds on the title screen. Have any of you used this with the steam client?

I did though I never had that happen to me, using 32 bit vista

Ah, okay. That same game I had 'bring the sword to TT' listed as an unfulfilled mission goal to the very end, so bug it is then.

The same thing happened to me in my last playthrough, though I never saw the Bob Page and Maggie conversation but there she was waiting for me at the UC
