I admit to sort of enjoying Ben 10 though Omniverse and the more comedy focused 2016 reboot were kind of meh In other news, apparently Greg Cipes will no longer be voicing Beast Boy (he was reportedly fired by WB after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s) https://x.com/DiscussingFilm/status/1964792967870484954

Well... https://bsky.app/profile/plasticmantalk.bsky.social/post/3lybsnpmg7s2n Also somebody pointed out he was diagnosed in March but wasn't talking about it until now, which came with him starting to do anti-vaxx conspiracy stuff. Dawgstar fucked around with this message at 23:23 on Sep 7, 2025 |

They were probably looking for a reason for a while. It's like "we can't fire him for being anti-vaxx and blaming covid on "them" without triggering a culture war that attracts the worst people, so........Parkinson's. Just say it's the Parkinson's." They still come off looking like major assholes, but don't have to deal with death threats and being talked about on Fox News or whatever. Story hit The Wrap, someone at the studio says he was offered a new role and a developmental deal (which might be a first for a voice actor?): https://bsky.app/profile/cnschedules.bsky.social/post/3lycb4em2ss2v https://bsky.app/profile/cnschedules.bsky.social/post/3lycb4fnpxk2v

I’ve always thought Cipes was a brilliant casting choice because he’s exactly the kind of weirdo Beast Boy would probably become.

Cripes and Tara Strong were really anti-vax, especially during Covid. I think Strong also retweeted a bunch of islamaphobic stuff, as well, and shilled for AI Art, while being against AI voice acting (because that's what she does.)

I seem to recall Troy Baker got put in voice actor jail for a year or two too because he got into shilling NFTs right around the time they were circling the drain and just kind of pissed everyone (including Nolan North) off by being a weird douche who let fame go to his head and he's finally crawled back out again as of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Not surprisingly he's good friends with Cipes, or at least he was. nine-gear crow fucked around with this message at 00:35 on Sep 9, 2025 |

Odd question for anyone who knows more about music than I do, which isn't hard: I've had the Good Troop theme song stuck in my head for the last few days, and is it just me or does it sound a lot like a remix of Tutti Frutti?

Is there anyone in the Teen Titans cast that doesn't have lovely views of some kind for that matter (or are Cipes and Strong just the odd ones out)?

As far as I know Menville and Payton are fine, or at least I've never seen them say something objectionable. Payton is, understandably, big on BLM and related. Hynden Walch who plays Starfire is very private and I don't think ever really had much of an online presence which is probably smart.

If you wanted some lore / origin story for your Gabby Cats, that movie is out. We took our four year old and she was geeking out at the cats on the big screen. It wasn’t torture to sit through, but it’s very much Toy Story 3, with cats.

Much better than the "quotidian Gravity Falls" logline would imply. The characters are fun, they feel real, the art is nice and it's got a good sense of humour and a strong dramatic spine. It's a good show, one of the better things airing right now.

The creator has a really clear vision, and by making the tv series with pretty cheap methods he was able to get things done his way. He is supposedly extremely stubborn when faced with executive meddling. They're now working on a movie and have a massive budget and Disney execs keep trying to mess with it and his reaction is to just ignore their notes. What are they going to do? Not release the most popular kids franchise into theaters? Meanwhile every other Disney project I've worked on, everyone including all supes and the director fall into line when the execs suggest anything. On the newest Lion King we got an executive note from Iger about the movie feeling "flat", and the executives under him misinterpreted that to mean literally, so they asked for more bounciness in the animation. For a few weeks we were adding more y-translation to all the center of gravity on the lions as they walked and performed, making things feel more cartoony. Finally after a few months it got up the chain again and it was clarified that Iger had meant "emotionally flat". Then the animation was redone to remove that bounciness. Hundreds of thousands of dollars wasted. So what I'm saying is, it's a good thing the creator of Bluey is both in studio with the animators and ignoring exec notes. It also helps that it's just not part of the American media system, so by the time that high-rolling American executives found the show, it was already going strong within its own ecosystem. I dunno what the Australian media environment is like with other things.

Has Crash the Bandicoot ever had a lot of fiction before? Sonic Prime was good, but it'd be weirder having to cobble together a characterization and plot from scratch. I don't know if I've ever even seen Crash talk. I'd expect more with like Spyro, he has more meat to work with. Dunno what Naughty Dog has even been doing for the last few years.
