High Contrast released a new album today. Did anyone else know that? Because I didn't. I'm listening to it now and it's...not great so far :(

Meanwhile my favorite album of his, Tough Guys Don't Dance, turned 10 years old a few days ago :stare: I've literally been listening to that album since I was in high school. Weird.

I wish he'd get weird and experiment again instead of playing it as safe as possible. He's basically making adult contemporary drum n bass now, which bums me out. Oh well.

e: God, the more it goes on, it feels like he got in Olympic music-making mode 5 years ago and never got out of it. This is so boring. Don't be surprised if you put on an easy listening station to fall asleep to and loving High Contrast is on there.

e2: lmao, I'm pretty sure the last track uses the synth line from Castles in the Sky of all things.

I dunno, I always kinda felt that way about High Contrast, but I'm more into the hard neuro poo poo. His production has always been top notch, tho.

EDIT: Submerged on High Contrast: "He's purposefully inoffensive drum n bass."

OHM RESISTANCE REMIX CONTEST IS GO. Grab the stems for You Will Choose Fire's 100 Nazi Scalps here and submit your remix by 11/17. Any and all styles welcome, and good remixes are gonna be on an upcoming Ohm Resistance release. PM me for details, or hit us up on the label's Facebook. So far Amantra and Masamune have turned in utter destroyers -- this Masamune one in particular is a serious dnb banger. I'm so hype for this release you have no idea.

Nothing like playing a show in Brooklyn, returning to the audience, elbowing your bassist to point out the dude at the bar wearing a, "The Nine Inch Nails" shirt...then getting introduced to said guy in the TNIN shirt, after he followed your crew back to your Airbnb, and it turns out he's Dieselboy.

Nice guy. Really loves Twin Peaks.

this just makes me sad for the state of liquid, everyone is free to have their own opinion but imo Fred V and Grafix are two of the producers who had the most promise and ruined it by selling out.

I mean come on, here's 41 minutes of absolutely killer tracks from the duo that are like, a billion times better than any song they've put out since Recognise (and even that was ehh.) The whole mix is amazing.

I mainly just miss the 2010 liquid era :(

Some D&B drama has just gone down, Hospital Records has dropped Mistabishi's releases from their store as from the sound of it he's outed himself as a big racist:

https://twitter.com/HospitalRecords/status/952961529258881026

I'm not 100% across what Mistabishi did to instigate this. One of his recent tweets hints at his attitudes however I suspect the real poo poo happened on FB:

https://twitter.com/MistabishiMusic/status/951820182883897344

Honestly Mistabishi has a bad track record and is somewhat of a black-sheep so I'm not surprised. He still cops flack for that incident from years ago where he played a pre-recorded mix live and tried to pass it off as a live mix by pretending to use the CDJ.

Hospital Records response is loving awesome, zero tolerance is the way to go. Sucks though because I really love Mistabishi's 2009 debut LP Drop but now his whole career is even more marred with his lovely behaviour.

That rules that Hospital responded how they did, but I wasn't even aware they were still selling any of his releases. I guess they did release his debut studio album (and his best work to date), but also, like you said, I thought the ties between them had been severed long ago after they dropped him from the label.

That first album though, man. Like if he's a huge racist, gently caress him and I hope whatever career he has left is destroyed, but that first loving album...
