This looks sick, kicks-off at 9PM BST, not sure if I'll be able to see it live because that will be 4AM Saturday for me lol.

Edit: the mix, some pretty savage stuff in there. Also I'm dumb and thought it was meant to be a live stream

Nothing impresses me anymore. One time I saw a guy spin a four-deck all-vinyl set with boxing gloves on, while cooking penne carbonara (the RIGHT way) and also using a foot-powered lathe to build a flawless rocking chair out of oak. There were visuals on the screen that were just clips of alternate-universe versions of himself doing mad successful poo poo like winning the Kentucky Derby, or kiteboarding with Zac Efron. He had in his crate two copies of that Wu-Tang album they only made one copy of. He wore these hypnotizing sunglasses and when he made eye contact with you in the audience, you could feel him psychically stealing all your most ambitious ideas, your hopes and dreams. All his cuts were real deep, like prehistoric poo poo that stirred the animal instinct in your soul. At the end of his set, he ate all his records and then he lit himself on fire. Nothing impresses me anymore.

Nice, hits a specific sweet-spot of 2000-2010 D&B, especially some of the DJ Hazard tracks. Also I think I might have seen him live once or maybe that was an MC with a similar name.

That is sick. I've recently been re-listening to old episodes of the Lifted Music Show with Spor and Chris Renegade, huge nostalgia trip as I rinsed them during my daily commute when I was first getting into D&B. They don't appear to be online any more but I've got all the episodes, been debating whether or not I should just throw them up on my VPS.

I should see if I still have those. Used to put episodes on my Walkman for the long trips to remote offices in Montana. Y’know, from the dirt road part of my forums handle. If you want a Google Drive or some other repo to upload them onto, I can hook you up.

I've got episodes 1 to 24 (2007-2014), total size is 1.13GB. Was going to upload to my VPS and make them publicly available but not sure how kosher that would be. PM me if you'd like me to upload them somewhere for you.

Love your mixes, you play ever slightly harder than I do but there’s a lot of tunes that I find work in my sets, thanks!

Can you give me a run down of your video rig? Is the camera switching automated? What kind of work do you have to do in post to sync it all up etc? Thanks again

Thanks, that means a lot! The cameras are Sony FDR-X3000 action cams. There used to be three of them but I lost one on a motorcycle ride. They're mounted to various things like laptop stands using small articulating arms from SmallRig - you can see that one of them is mounted to a boom mic stand on the desk that's also carrying that SM7B microphone (which I never use because I haven't really spun with an MC yet), but this allows me to sort of change that one angle on the fly, within reason. Each camera is connected via HDMI to a BlackMagic ATEM Mini switcher, and via USB to a powerbar since I don't feel like wasting the cameras' batteries. You can also see a RotoLight mounted to one of the articulating arms to get some light on the gear, since I'm sort of standing in the way of the chandelier (lol) in my room.

The switcher is sort of the core part of streaming, because it'll take up to four HDMI signals, and spit them out as USB3 so your computer sees it as a webcam. Natch, it also does some fancy wipes and fades and picture-in-picture but I haven't really tried any of that stuff yet. It's plugged into the laptop seen close to the screen, but since I fear that laptop is on its way out and OBS seems to report more dropped frames than ideal, I also have a USB3 cable running to my desktop to use that as the streaming machine. The monitor you see above the ATEM switcher is an Atomos Ninja V, a fantastic little recorder/monitor for cinematography that can record up to 4K to a SSD.

Instead of recording within OBS (and further straining the laptop), I use the Ninja V (and some fun timecode gear like the Denecke slate and TCS wireless timecode boxes, even though I don't need to do that at all it looks cool and it's good practice) to get a raw recording of the set, which due to some weird fuckery with how it sees the action cams, always ends up as, I think 1080p 60fps, and also there's a slight delay, about three frames, between the audio and video. I drop the extra-bigass file into Premiere, add my silly little title screen and fades, fix the audio delay and throw some mastering plugins on the audio stream, then it's done.

I've got some friends over at FAT32 Studios who are working on something even cooler that's actually a custom job and I have NO idea how it works... but basically when they iron out the kinks it will facilitate sub-millisecond latency for remote B2B sets. Which is loving nuts, and I don't even really like B2B sets.

EDIT: Realized I didn't answer your first question. No the switching is not automated, you can see me hit a button on the ATEM every now and then. I don't know if the unit even has that feature, but if it doesn't it's the one feature I want that it's missing.

Holy poo poo, your setup is insanely cool. Re the colour it just seems like the white balance is off which you can probably fix in software. Awesome mix btw, pure liquid 😎

Edit: for some content, was cataloguing some releases earlier and went over Divergence II LP (EATBRAINLP009) from Eatbrain, this track in particular stuck with me, a solid dirge:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7Z94UcWQOk

Also Kutlo's bio on Discogs is the greatest:

quote:

First started listening to Drum & Bass in late 2008 using NFS:Undercover, where he heard Drum & Bass for the first time and he found in it his specific style. Broken beats, moving bass and fast tempo in this genre are fulfilling him everyday.
But only listening to it wasn´t enough. So from 2011 begins his journey with DJ-ing Drum and Bass and producing DnB songs in FL Studio 10 in early of 2012.

:3:

Edit2: I thought it would go without saying but just-in-case, Kutlo is a monster:

Last night I got home late and felt like spinning some D&B again. This one gets a little stupid near the end; I should probably stick to spinning liquid because the harder stuff got away from me. Things are rough right now, I'm feeling really down but I'm not going to let that stop me from putting out mixes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EoDznrMFt9k

EDIT: I'm just going to add this here because it's not technically D&B (there isn't a Dubstep thread is there?) and I don't want to keep shelling the thread with my boring posting. I spun some 140 last night, and tried out some mood lighting as well.

Any OC, be it mixes, WIPs or produced tracks, is very welcome in this thread! Re style permissibility, D&B (Neuro, tech, liquid, jump-up), dubstep, jungle IMO it's all good (Only the good dubstep though ;)). Don't worry about overloading the thread, it's not particularly fast moving and we could do with some volume (heh).

Eh, It's just years of using the same DAW (Reason, though when I had commute I used Caustic too on my phone) and not really having other hobbies. Also, I know it's just ok work for the most part, and I'm not a super perfectionist. I tried that a couple times and I took so long to finish an LP each time that I ended up starting another one instead and finishing it up first, so I stopped overthinking things to get better via new tracks not overworking the same tracks.
