I forgot to post it here but I went live with a D&B mix just over a week ago. It's not getting any love in the Mixes thread in ML, but I'm sure some of you guys will appreciate it. Just shy of 90 minutes, starts off light and melodic but ends nice and heavy. Handful of mistakes, because I suck. OPERATIONS vol. 1 Also, it feels good to say - after spending too much time pulling my hair out over workflow efficiency (and bitching about it in ML), I finally sat down and forced myself to figure out a resampling technique that works for me. I've got some really heavy poo poo in the works, and I'm going to kick my own rear end into putting out a balls-out neurofunk EP this summer.

Thoughts on the Noisia EP? I didn't really like what I heard at first, but it's grown on me and I purchased the whole thing - I'm even tempted to grab a vinyl copy. So far I think Leopard Slug or Running Blind are my favourite tracks. I like the syncopated feel on the track with Evol Intent but it could be a lot heavier.

Andy C tore the roof off the loving Guvernment on Friday. It's to be expected but it really was one of the best nights of my sad little life. I've definitely heard Gigantor refer to the Under the RADAR EP's sound as 'Skullstep'. I don't entirely get it but it makes me laugh. Reminds me of a friend that used to refer to early Current Value as 'Drill 'n Bass'. Speaking of Current Value, he's a powerhouse this year. Less 'drill' and more twostep neurofunk but all three releases I've heard in the past three months (Nitro, Traktion/Jetbike and Force Black) have been outstanding. There's a crew putting up events here in the Six called Master Lab. Last night they brought in Klute and one of the guys from Ivy Lab to play one of the best-sounding clubs in the city, Coda. It was unreal. Klute just loving goes all in.

Crosspost from the Toronto LAN thread; I know at least a couple of you lurker junglists are from around here: This weekend I will be saying goodbye to a beloved venue that hosts regular Drum & Bass nights: Tota. Like the D&B scene, it might seem rough from the outside, but what I've found going to Tota regularly are some of the most passionate, inclusive people I've ever had the pleasure of partying with. Parties wouldn't exist without a venue whose owners and staff are similarly passionate so this weekend we're giving Tota the sendoff it deserves with a stacked lineup of fantastic local junglist talent. The official Finale is this Friday but there will also be one final Church Sunday as well, with no cover charge all night. I know at least a couple of goons are into D&B but I'm unsure if they've ever checked out the local scene. I'll be at both events for sure. Come out, you won't be disappointed.

Exit Records has a newcomer - or possibly another label collaboration, it's unknown so far: Richie Brains. The LP dropped yesterday and it's pure loving fire. I've been hungrily acquiring new music like crazy this past few weeks. I never used to like shuffly halftime hip-hop stuff (like Ivy Lab's latest work) but a lot of it is finding its way into my rotations. OPERATIONS vol. 13 should be out in no time.

Dillinja murdered it on Sunday. I'm glad I caught his set (and most of Makoto's) on the mighty PK sound system at CODA. I would have stayed for Audio's set - he's a four-deck monster and a huge inspiration to my own DJing - but I was so beat and I've seen him before. Toronto has been blessed with so many good D&B lineups lately. Next up: Dub Phizix (w/Strategy) and Noisia this Saturday!

Noisia was just bonkers. I've seen them a few times before and it's always Thijs doing most of the work behind the mixer even though I'm pretty sure Nik was there as well. I woke up to some facebook trolling about 'realDJing2016': pictures of his Launchpad and laptop running Ableton - lol. Anyway he rocked it, lots of new tunes and a few classics (including a D&B-tempo version of the Raise Your Weapon remix which banged). Dub Phizix and Strategy were pretty good but I expected more. They played a lot of shuffly or borderline trap halftime stuff, which is very hit or miss for me. I wish they would have played more unreleased stuff though. I guess that's par for the course being in North America; a lot of UK artists come here thinking we only care about the released bangers. That broken-beat shuffly trip-hop stuff is admittedly growing on me, though - it makes up like half of my next OPERATIONS mix, which is due any day now.
